LORE

It was a sunny day; well as sunny as it gets in Scarred Wasteland. A group of hatchlings were play fighting much like any other young dragon, clawing, biting, belching fire, and much more; but playing this way can be dangerous, especially in such close proximity to the Wyrmwound. The adults of the lair thought nothing of it; they lived near the wound for decades with not a single incident.

Selentys being the largest of the hatchlings had a tendency to get a little too rough and in some cases he was even known to kill his other clutch mates. Today was no different. Selentys had spent his morning snarling and attacking smaller hatchlings as if he had purposely sought to harm them. It didn't take long for him to get bored so he decided to go on a hunt for a younger, smaller hatchling. It wasn't long before Selentys stumbled upon a very small hatchling, probably just over a day old resting in a nest waiting for his mother to return with the breakfast. The chicks forest green scales glistened in the scorching sun sending bright reflections onto the ground. His name was Garnet.

Selentys prowled as quietly as he could to not wake the hatchling; a struggling target will draw attention and that would result in punishment. The distance between the large hatchling and Garnet shrunk and shrunk until Selentys was hovering over the chicks unsuspecting body. And in that instant he bit down on the chicks neck and coating his shimmering green scales with the sickening red of blood. Garnet reared his body to break the grasp of his attackers jaws and instantly sprinted towards the other adults. But Selentys wasn't far behind and took the opportunity to bite down on Garnet's tail. Garnet fell to the ground with a thud and was immediately pinned down by the much larger dragon. Garnet fought with all his strength, kicking and rolling to release himself; but that was a much worse idea then he thought. It was like time slowed, violent bubbling and sizzling was all that was heard, then, a splash. The sickening brew of the Wyrmwound enveloped the hatchlings skin burning their scales and deforming their bodies.

Adults came to the aid of the hatchlings but it was too late, they had fallen beneath the surface of the radioactive sludge and no dragon was dumb enough to reach in.

The adults returned to their nests, grief washing over them, they may be of the plague flight and yes, they believe only the strong survive, but chicks of such a young age survive off the strength of their parents; therefore if a chick dies it is due to the weakness of the parents themselves.

A sizzling noise was heard not long after which drew the attention of the clan. The large dragons flew up to the wyrmwound's edge only to be met with a sickening sight. It was Garnet, he had managed to climb out of the wound but in no way unscathed. His once brilliant scales were now stained blood red and soaked in a putrid slime, dark marks littered his body and small spikes had erupted from his skin. However, the most shocking trait was the row of glowing red eyes on each side of his face. He slunk down the ridge, the liquid dripping off his body dissolves what little plant life there was under him.

The clan shunned him. He probably wouldn't survive long and the clan did not have the resources to waste on a weakling mutant. Garnet proved them wrong; he grew and grew and with that his power exceeded many of the older dragons'. Garnet never saw the need to use his power for selfish reasons, his strength was his weapon against enemies that would dare harm his clan and most importantly his mate Chordata.

WILDCLAW

The Wildclaw breed originates from Shrieking Wilds where its population remains abundant. This species has begun to expand into new domains, the most notable of which is The Wandering Contagion. This territory supports the second largest population of Wildclaw dragons, which some consider to be unusual given the homeland of the species. To say that these two regional groups do not get along is an understatement, and most encounters between the two populations trend towards bloodshed.

Wildclaw are a bipedal species of dragon. Their powerful hind legs excel at launching them into the air and enabling them to slash at their prey. The shorter front legs possess dexterous claws and opposable thumbs. Wildclaws display little sexual dimorphism, with both male and females possessing a crown of six horns and a crest of feathers. Females of the species are on-average slightly larger than their male counterparts.
