If you need innovation and you don't want to go to Stark - or if he's already declared that what you're asking is impossible - your best bet is to visit the lab in the Cliff Tunnels that belongs to DeLorean and Verne.

DeLorean specialises in electrical inventions, while Verne is an expert in steam-powered machinery, and together they make incredible mechanical creations ... that sometimes even work as intended! Though their failure rate may be high, they have achieved some success: automating their morning routines, building an ice-maker, and even, if they are to be believed, inventing time travel ... but no one takes that seriously, of course!

When she isn't brainstorming new ideas with DeLorean or working on their latest projects, Verne spends her time either tinkering with her telescope or reading. She loves fiction, particularly stories that involve fantastical voyages - underground, deep beneath the sea and even into space!

She is, at heart, a dreamer, whose vivid imagination has inspired her to become a student of all sciences in order to turn her ideas into reality. Though she is brilliant, her distinct lack of early success and her quirky manner invited the ridicule of others, and she led quite a lonely existence before she met DeLorean. Thankfully, the two are now firm friends: DeLorean enjoys Verne's old-fashioned nature, tendency to use big words, and habit of showing off her knowledge whenever possible! DeLorean is one of the few who also sees and appreciates Verne's kind, supportive and encouraging nature. (She is also the only person who knows that Verne is secretly a romantic.)

The pair of inventors are generally well-liked members of the Lundlaevungar, though the are perhaps closest with Ted and his centaur friend Bill. They are on particularly good terms with the Doctor and their companions, who usually find time to pop in for a chat whenever they are in the area. The only dragon in the clan they don't get along with is McKay, though it is entirely one-sided: they can't explain why he has such a problem with them (though they're guessing it's the time travel thing?), and no one but Sheppard has ever managed to sit through his ranting for long enough to find the truth beneath the bluster.

For some reason, both DeLorean and Verne seem to have an obsession with flying at the specific speed of 88 miles per hour ...
