Biography

Gankar is an orphan. He was abandoned by his mother, who went insane and kicked him out because her son was the spitting image of his father. He never knew his father, but he was a Palace Knight, head of the Royal Guard of Lakkuro, which is the ruling country of monarchy.

He was then taken in by an orphanage in the Imperial City. Although this orphanage specialized in training it's children in combat and knightry, therefore he was not an exception.

Since the age of 5 he was a trained in combat, assassination, and knightry. He was considered a prodigy and excelled at everything. He trained hard at any task given to him, wanting to become stronger, because he had become attached to the orphanage and it's residents. So he wanted to be able to protect them.

Although that changed 5 years later when another country's army invaded the Imperial City. Gankar was forced to hide by Murak, the one who ran the orphanage, as well as with another girl, a resident of the orphanage who Gankar had promised to protect at a young age.

He was forced to watch everyone except him and the girl be slaughtered by the opposing army. He covered her eyes, repeatedly telling her not to look as he watched the scene play out, his eyes wet with tears.

After the army invaded, they were eventually defeated by Lakkuro's army. After the invasion the girl was sent to the Imperial Palace to be a steampunk engineer and help out the old engineer. Gankar, on the other hand, pledged that he would become a knight of Lakkuro, and would protect anything he held close.

After a few more years Gankar was able to become a Job Legion Knight, the lowest ranking Knight, at the age of 14. He quickly rose up in the ranks after proving his worth many times. That was when he had Guruikaru make him his sword.

During those years he was plagued with raging nightmares. All revolving around his orphanage's slaughter. One day he awoke from his nightmare with an extreme pain in his left eye, and when he looked in the mirror, the sclera had turned black and the iris was a pure gold. He only had this effect once, although he was never able to figure out what it was… But ever since that day he's had a tattoo that looks like this on his left pectoral.

But as soon as he became a General of the Knight Army as the measly age of 17, people began burrowing into his past. Rumors spread quickly, some true, some false. People whispered about how he was an orphan, although no one actually knew who his parents were, not even himself.

Other Generals and Knights below him criticized him and taunted him, reminding him of the orphanage he couldn't protect. He didn't listen to any of them, not becoming attached to anything ever again. He was virtually alone, save for the girl.

The girl was the only person he spoke to, besides the reigning monarchy. He only ever listened rationally to what she had to say, which was probably why he was still sane.

After one more year of being a General, he was promoted to a personal Royal Guard, who was to directly protect the monarchy by being by their side. When he was given this title, he met his father.

His father had recognized him, but wanted to wait till after his son's shift as Personal Royal Guard was done. His father called out to Gankar as he left to go home, he told Gankar that he was his father. Gankar didn't believe him and kept walking, not listening to his father as called out.

Sadly, they were people that got extremely jealous of Gankar, and had set a bounty on his head. So just as Gankar turned away from his father, an assassin shot at him. Gankar's father had pushed him out of the way just in time though, the shot penetrating his father's armor.

Gankar then knew that his father had not lied, and mourned his father's death, blaming himself for not being alert enough.

Gankar did move on though. He eventually asked the girl to be his mate, to which she agreed lovingly. Sometimes he still feels the guilt and torment of his past gnaw away at him, but he pushes through that, feeling his only purpose should be to protect what he had in his hands right now and quit dwelling on the past.

Description of his human look can be found ~here~.
