The night was alive with the sound of excited dragons. The prophecy claimed the new clan leader was to be born on this the night of the full moon. Three nests of three eggs were to hatch and one would be chosen to lead the clan.

The old dragon had arrived shortly after the hatchlings. Many still had eggshell clinging to them as he walked up to inspect the brood. The old clan leader, Fate, stood proudly over her hatchlings hoping one of her two daughters would be chosen. Her red eyes watch intensely as he walked past her offspring.

At the last nest the old dragon stopped. In that instant the clouds moved to allow the moon's pale light to shine down on the softly chirping imperial resting between her fathers paws. Her eyes glowed with their own golden twinkle as she met his gaze. The little dragon left her father with a couple shaky steps toward the old prophet. She growled softly as she stood before her equal.

That night she was marked and given the sword she will one day carry into battle. Her life became a whirl of activity. Tutors and lectures helped grow her mind and fill her with the knowledge she would need. The little hatchling never balked at the task before her but dove head first into all her lessons. When she wasn't in lesson she was allowed time to spar with her nest-mates and explore with the family.
