Starburst
spreading joy and cheer
Bright. Flashy. Somewhat obnoxious. But always well meaning! Starburst has the body of a fighter and the heart of a peacekeeper. Where other ridgebacks his age and size tend to enjoy the sport of fighting, Starburst would rather talk it over and avoid fighting all together. It doesn't have anything to do with being bad at fighting, what would make you think that? Of course he's good at fighting, he's a ridgeback afterall. His tactic of avoiding fights is for your safety, he swears it. It was this reluctance to fight that endeared him to his partner, Beau. The wildclaw nurse found all of Starburst's pacifist tendencies to be irresistable. The clan matriarch, Yoshiya, is glad for having brought the overly colorful ridgeback into the clan. His personality conflicting with his breed's usual temperment meant he fit right in to the Ilysiad Clan. That isn't to say Starburst is a gentle giant although he is definitely a giant. In his warring bid to be liked by the dragons around him, he can sometimes be over excited. Perhaps a little overbearing sometimes. Other dragons have felt overwhelmed by his enthusiasm, but they all know he's trying his best with only the best intentions. If he were a smaller dragon, he might not come across so boldly. Because of his size, everything he does seems to be magnified several times over. For example, the last time a dragon came to him with a problem, he very nearly took care of the problem himself and spent several days hounding the dragon to take care of the problem themselves 'or else.' When he wants his way, which isn't exactly often, he will dig his claws in and push back until he gets it. Despite all of his percieved shortcomings as a ridgeback, he is quite popular in the clan. His bright colors and cheerful demeanor frequently put him in the good books of dragons around him. Most of the reason Starburst doesn't leave the clan is Beau. He and the wildclaw are seen together frequently and despite their size difference the pair are nearly universally considered perfect for each other in temperment and personality. Beau, with his healer's hands and his enthusastic take on life, fits well with Starburst's high energy and good intentions. In the line of having good intentions and somewhat mixed-review outcomes, Starburst tends to hoard things that shouldn't be hoarded. Living creatures are among those things. Starburst enjoys colorful birds and wants to keep them all. He also enjoys colorful stones, apparel, and trinkets. Much of the time Beau has something to say about Starburst's familiar hoard, but Starburst is adamant about keeping them. He has named all his birds, but the three he loves most are a Rhodochrosite Crane named Sparkles, a Peace Dove named Marie, and a Wyrmpeck named Madame Scream. "why can't he give them normal names?" one may ask. "Why don't you let me LIVE MY LIFE" he would reply. |
