Lovely White Raven - 6

Aloysius peeked his head in the flap of the tent, his hood hiding one pair of his eyes. “Everything all ready in here? Got a mad crowd out there. Always happens during the Riot of Rot━if there’s one holiday I’d like to cancel...” Aloysius may have muttered more, but Mars couldn’t hear. Kull looked at Mars and shrugged his half of their shared shoulders. Mars swung his head around to look at Aloysius. “Do we have a choice?” he muttered, only just loud enough for the Mirror to hear. Without a second thought, Aloysius bounded in and straight up to the bars. Mars could see in his eyes he was scared of them. The bars were strong, but not unbreakable. And no one, not even the players at the traveling circus who knew better, could quite shake the resemblence Mars and Kull had to a monster. “Are you crazy?” Aloysius hissed. “Look, none of us like this but it’ll be our necks if you don’t do what you’re supposed to do.” He glanced between Mars and Kull as though he wasn’t sure which one to speak to. “All three of our necks.” “I know, I know.” Kull shifted slightly as though tapping Mars, but they were too connected for that. “I’ll give them a good scare.” “That’s all they want.” “Always about what they want,” Mars muttered, and Aloysius walked back to the tent entrance as though he didn’t hear. Kull gamely lifted his head and roared at the passers-by as they entered. A pair of dryads clung to one another and gasped. A few adolescent male Pearlcatchers tried to hide their fear with laughter and shrugs. Mars rested his neck against his brother’s and waited. Someday, he thought, they’d be out of here. And they wouldn’t be laughing. |
Mars and Kull are brothers, never apart though they have no choice in the matter. It’s a matter of life that sometimes things don’t quite work out the way they’re supposed to, and that’s what happened to Mars and Kull. As the radiation in Arcane territory warps webwings and drives the sanest dreameater mad, sometimes dragons are affected, too. Though the two Imperials may look like an Emperor with too few heads (a terrifying possibility with magic as strong as it is these days), Mars and Kull are conjoined twins. Their wings (they have three) are shriveled, and their legs (they have six) are more a tripping hazard than anything. However, over their time together they’ve learned to move and live much like any dragon with the ordinary number of heads and feet. It’s another matter of life that dragons can be cruel and unfeeling toward dragons that fall outside statistical normality, and also that they enjoy seeing the strange and unusual and generally enjoy being frightened as long as they can feel reasonably safe. Mars and Kull’s parents, terrified of the accusations that might come with a hatchling that looked very much like the fabled Emperors, pawned the two off to the nearest accepting dragon that passed the clan. Mars and Kull passed from dragon to beast and back to dragon again before landing unhappily in a circus as a sideshow attraction, dubbed “Marskull the Emperor.” Dragons and beasts alike filed past the bars on his cage, all most certain he must be some sort of sedate Emperor. Though they were ridiculed and abused, they had one solace. They always had each other. It wasn’t until a rowdy Mirror named Aloysius had enough of his role as ticket-taker, bouncer, and all-around errand-boy that Mars and Kull saw their chance to escape. As Aloysius distracted the ringmaster with his dissatisfaction, Mars and Kull announced their own displeasure in the most Emperor-like fashion they could. Mars and Kull joined the Tempest Chase partly to avoid being hunted as a monster themselves. They mostly keep to themselves, except for Aloysius and a few others, and try to figure out how to be a dragon like all the others. It may be impossible, but they’re going to give it their best shot. |

» Aloysius sell everything
════════════════════════
.The ticket-taker Mirror at the circus was most likely the two Imperial’s first friend, though he gets along better with Kull than he does with Mars. Aloysius has quite a temper, though he’s smart and focused enough to make up for it. Mars helps Aloysius with finance calculations, and Kull does his best to distract them with anything but work. Aloysius is much like the middle ground between them, though unhappy and restless he may be. Perhaps its this they have in common that ties them together. Deep down, Aloysius seems to care about them and wants them to be happy, even though he has the oddest way of showing it. . |
» Tamiva two for the price of one
════════════════════════
.Like Mars and Kull, Tamiva is a traveling dragon of finance and deals. She stocks excellent weapons and buys high-quality monster materials for her traveling shop. They are quite close friends, perhaps partially because the pair purchase a good deal from her and because she goes to many lengths to get them the things they ask for. Kull likes her best; which is good, because Tamiva likes Kull the best of the two also. The two like to think they’re the reason(s) she will sometimes travel alongside the Tempest Chase as they go from place to place even though she’s perfectly capable of taking care of herself. . |
ROSA and RHINE - good company
━━ notes ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
» Mars and Kull don’t have what might be considered “proper” surnames. They each have taken the other’s first name as a surname, so Mars uses Kull as his surname, and Kull uses Mars.» Mars and Kull have disparate interests, but are used to working together anyway. Mars enjoys working with his mind, and Kull likes working with his hands (of their three hands, Kull controls two). The latter is surprisingly dextrous and the former is incredibly astute. Together they make a fine quartermaster for the Tempest Chase.
