Everything changed, when the Twilight Circus found a strange gemstone, embedded into the wall of their home lair, deep inside the tangled woods.
It was a blue, very smooth stone, shining like a diamond. Though as soon as it was exposed to air for the first time in who knows how long, as the clan carved out the wall, in an attempt to make more living space, it started to absorb the natural elemental energies of its immediate surroundings. And it started to glow with an eerie purple light.
The unknown stone begann to radiate with a mysterious strange energy that transformed the entire lair and even some land around it into a place outside of time and space itself. Everyone who was there on that fateful day, became a being, imprisoned into an existence between life and death. They all transformed into ghostly wisps. Ghosts.
And nothing would ever be the same, ever again.

There was no way to turn themselves back to normal, as it seemed. They could sill look normal, but hey just weren´t. They all developed strange powers and abilities, like becoming invisible, walking through objects and even walls, seeing the dead, and floating without ever using their wings. They could still hurt themselves, as none of them was truly deceased yet. They only appeared to be.
Time became blurry for them, to the point that none of them was able to tell how long they had been this way. But as time went by and weeks became months, and eventually years, they learned to adapt to their new existence. The Twilight Circus, of wich Shadow was the Ringleader, found many more of these stone's in their land over time, to wich the nomadic circus returned at least once a year. They realized how much potential their new life had. There could be benefits from being Ghost's. So Shadow decided, that they would no longer search for a cure. Instead, they would even take some of the mystical stones with them, when they traveled with their circus. Yet, they decided to never tell anyone about the truth, and what they had become...

______ The circus performances were wonderfull, not from this world... No one could ever understand just how the Twilight Circus could do the tricks they did. And how they vanished the next day, with the entire circus and without leaving a trace behind. It was magical, good times... They had so much fun with their new state of being.

______ But not all was well. Even though, they were pretty popular and made a good living out of all of this, there where still dragons in the Clan, that did not like their lives. Horizon and Astral where especially not pleased with their circumstances. They had so much power, yet the only thing Shadow allowed them to do with those, was to make the show better? Why not do more? Why not take advantage? These powers were given to them, so it was only righteous to use them, and get everything they ever wanted.. wasn´t this right?

______ No. No it was not. Shadow despised these mentality's. She didn't want her clan to take advantage of others, and she especially didn't want others to be harmed. It wasn't right to hurt others just because their clan had a power that others didn't know... Astral and Horizon did not care what she thought. They studied the mystical gemstones in secret, uncovered more and more of their powers, until, one day, they killed a dragon. Just to test the limits of what their where capable of. When Shadow found out and saw the dead body, she and her lover Kelvar banished those to greedy dragons immediatly. This Clan would not tolerate murder!
So when Astral and Horizon where forced to leave, hey took some of the gemstones with them, in secret.
