History

Who says girls aren’t as deadly as boys? Certainly not anyone who’s come into contact with Copperclaw. This dragon was born with a bone made entirely of ferocity. As a baby, her older brother picked and made fun of her. What could the poor defenseless hatchling do? Well to make a long story short, she beat the living daylights out of them.

Copperclaw never has liked bullies, in case you can’t gather that. Nonetheless, she grew up along with her siblings, and she was, for the most part, a good little Guardian. The clan was flying through a new territory one day when a terrible storm set in. It blew little Copperclaw right off her mother’s back. She landed hard in the middle of a place that did not belong to her clan. Frightened, she ran. She ran until she could run no more. But she was still alone and still in rival territory.

The worst part was that as hard as her brith clan searched, they found no trace of her. She was soon found by a group of scouts from the rival clan. They took her to the alpha of their clan, and he allowed her to stay on the condition that she did as she was told. He saw quite clearly that she was capable of great things. Or in that case, horrible things. This clan wasn’t quite right for her, though. How did she know this? She could feel it.

All Copperclaw was really searching for was a place she could belong. So after a brief few months of training, the Guardian abandoned her new clan and continued on her way. Eventually, she found a clan that seemed perfect. But it’s never that easy. She requested to join, and the alpha agreed without any form of hesitation. Naturally, that made her very suspicious. When she asked him about it a week later, he brushed her off and gave her her very first mission. A kill mission. She adamantly refused, saying that she was no killer, nor would she ever be.

That’s when he jumped on her and pinned her down, threatening to end her life if she didn’t do as she was told. Copperclaw, young and afraid, reluctantly agreed. That’s when something strange happened. She was sent to a Mage in the clan, who placed… something inside of her by touching her heart and whispering a spell. It was an entity of infinite power, but also of infinite cruelty. It took over the young Guardian, who hadn’t a clue of how to break free.

Many kills were executed when this entity was summoned. She lived with it in her mind for over a year. That’s when she finally decided she had enough. She ran away once again, finding a clan of powerful Mages with abilities she could not comprehend. They agreed to take the spirit out of her head, but for a price. She became their assassin. Their mercenary. It didn’t take long for the killing to begin to haunt her nightmares. But the Mages would not let her quit so easily.

Fed up with running away, Copperclaw faced them. She confronted them about the killing and how it was impacting who she was. They then gave her a choice. Either stay and be a mercenary, or be banished forever. She hated to abandon yet another clan, but she could not kill anymore. So once again, she left.

She ran across a new clan in the Water flight territory, and something stirred within her. It was a sense of belonging, something that had been absent from her life for so long. Copperclaw went to the leader and knelt before her, offering her service. She accepted. Later, a new dragon joined the clan, and Copperclaw found herself in love. Now, she is a hunter as well as the clan’s captain of the guard. She leads companies into battle and comes up with strategies as well as training new recruits. She’s finally found a place where she belongs.

Personality

Copperclaw… where to start? I suppose at the basics. Copperclaw is very serious. Her sense of humor was lost long ago, which is why it’s a surprise that Evarado and this Guardian get along as well as they do. She takes all matters as if they were life or death, even simple things like working with hatchlings. This leads her to be extremely focused much of the time.

She is always on top of a situation, and she despises chaos. Any type of uncontrolled environment is one she can’t stand to be in. She values order above all things. However, she does not like to be the highest authority, which is why she never tried to start her own clan.

Copperclaw is very intelligent and clever. She is excellent with strategizing, and nothing delights her more than a good challenge. Copperclaw would never back down from a fight, even when fighting was absolutely pointless. This Guardian is also very protective of her loved ones, so I wouldn’t threaten them if I were you. Unfortunately, she lacks something that so many value: Loyalty. Never in her life was loyalty shown to her, and because of that, she does not know how to show it to others. The only dragon she is truly loyal to is Evarado, but she would ditch the rest of the clan in a moment if reason called for it.

She is deeply grateful to the alpha, however, for taking her in and helping her out. But there’s something else, locked deep within her soul. The entity that had once consumed her left something behind. A kind of… personality that shines through whenever something bad is happening.

This extra personality leaves her with a very quick temper and a desire to sometimes break the rules. This is why Copperclaw tries to remain focused at all times. Because if she lets her Guard down for even a moment, that same side of her could claw its way to the surface and hurt those she cares about.

Copperclaw, despite her past, has found a way to be kind to others. It’s not easy, but she manages. She is generous and gives what she can to those in need, and she is not afraid to risk her life if it means protecting the clan. Copperclaw is a Guardian with an extensive amount of knowledge.

Recently, she has begun to learn about casting so that she can work certain elements into her battle strategy. That just goes to show her curiosity and will to learn. She’s always trying to acquire more knowledge, knowing that with that knowledge comes power. And with power, comes responsibility.
