"And I'm going to name you... v a p o r w a v e!"

The Wildclaw staggered, her vision lost in one eye with it's eyelid scarred and squeezed shut over it. Blood trickled in a line from her head, and her opponent leered triumphantly at her.
"Never challenge a champion in a duel," they snarled.
Noted, thought the Wildclaw, but she didn't dare say anything in case it might hurt her further, for she could feel a sharp pain in her ribs.
What did I do to get here? she thought. Memories flashed through her head. Am I dying?
The Wildclaw stumbled some more, her knees buckling as she tried to leap into the air and fly away. She never flew away from a fight, but her survival instincts had taken over her mind and every muscle and nerve screamed at her to run! hide! get out!
Her opponent was faster. She hadn't even gotten one wingspan off the ground when they leapt up and grabbed her by the tail. She heard a sickening crack! as it was dislocated and she lost her balance and fell back down.
Defeated, she lay on the ground, breathing heavily, and shut her eyes.
Funny how when someone dies, your head flashes through every significant memory you had with them. Is dying the same?
She remembered her parents, training her to be the best Coliseum fighter there ever was. Her friends, laughing as they play-fought. The thrill of the fight, where she got addicted to dueling and went down the wrong path in life. Here she was, at her downfall? Dying?
Her opponent let out a screech and came down upon her with wild fury. Everything went dark.

It was chilly. Breezy. Am I dead?
A loud, booming voice, yet cheerful sounding, answered her. "No, you're alive! Wounded, but alive!"
"Nnnng," groaned the Wildclaw, trying to get up, but she flopped back on the ground. "I don't think I spoke that..."
"The winds tell me everything!" said the voice back.
"Are you a... see... a seer?"
"No, but my brother is!"
The fallen dragon blinked with her one good eye, clearing her eyesight. It was dark, with the moon setting in the west. Dawn would come soon.
An unbelievably enormous Spiral-like figure was floating before her. The four winds seemed to emanate from it.
"Are you... the Windsinger?"
"Yeah! The one and only! Of course, there are all those dragon lookalikes who are named after me... but other than that, it's me!
"Why would a deity approach me, of all dragons?"
"Let's call it a... second chance. At life." He tapped his claws together and smiled widely. "Here's the deal: I'll heal you one of two ways because my powers are exactly... proficient in healing. I either can heal you completely but you wouldn't get out with your memories, or the only other option, keep you eternally youthful, which would reverse all your wounds but you get to keep your memories."
"Isn't that a little... backwards?" rasped the Wildclaw.
"Hm, I guess it is. Oh, and the next part of the deal: the winds will take you to any Wind Clan there is after choosing either of those options. If you seriously don't like that, well you could stay here and wait for your death."
Ominous.
The Wildclaw gulped painfully. She remembered the memories flashing through her head.
She didn't want to lose those.
"I'll... I'll choose to be eternally youthful," she said.
"Awesome! Catch you later and enjoy your new clan!"
There was a strong gust of wind that swept the fighter off her talons and into the sky, her wings flailing uselessly. Everything was a blur afterwards.
Windsinger wasn't entirely correct about the "not losing memories" thing. She forgot her old name. It had been something fierce, maybe like Swiftclaw or Fiercefang. She didn't mind. She was leaving her old life behind. She also had stolen a breedchange scroll from the marketplace, turning herself into a Spiral, something... less fierce to symbolize her change.

Along with the permababying that came along with her being healed, she seemed to have gained a strange power. The ability to slip into the game code. She hadn't been aware that her whole life was basically a lie up until this point, but if it was, why not have some fun?
It turned out that it wasn't Windsinger who had done this, just an unfixable glitch. It might have been partially the reason, though. An unusual happening within the game that the system didn't know how to handle.
The ability to slip into the game code gave her unmatchable power. She could disappear at any time in what she called a "code rift" and pop up anywhere she wanted. She could edit words and posts in what were called "bios" and "forums" (not like the Shadow region, but she could pop on whenever she wanted.) She could "scan" dragons and figure out their names, level, battle stones, familiar, life stories, et cetera, et cetera. Once she had accidentally glitched into a coliseum fight, and the fighting dragons were terrified. She quickly popped out before the user could even register it.

She adopted the name "Crayola" for a bit. She was dropped in the middle of a clan territory but no one had known of her existence until a month later. Who noticed her? It was another Wildclaw. Crayola had been searching for food, ideally meat (she had still retained some of her Wildclaw instincts, oddly) but insects would have been fine. It was the dead of night, with no moon and only the stars and trees above.
No one in their right mind would be up at this time (except for that Pearlcatcher who always wrote like he was running out of time. It was hard to sneak past him.)
She didn't hear her coming, and she happened to be one of the quietest walkers she had ever known.
The Wildclaw, whose name was Mist (she found that out by scanning her) had been out on a late night walk to calm her nerves and watch the night sky, maybe grab a drink of water. When she saw unusual movement in the bushes, her curiosity commanded her to check it out.
"Hey, who are you?" she whispered when she saw the little Spiral.
Crayola blinked and disappeared into the game code, reappearing behind her. She seemed to see it coming and turned around one second after she had disappeared.
"You're one of those, aren't you? A glitch? I'm not, but I'm a dragonsona. I know how this game works."
The Spiral seemed to shimmer, indecisively caught between the game world and the code.
Mist plucked something from the ground. At first Crayola thought it was a blade of grass, but something seemed to be missing from the ground. A pixel. What was left was a blank spot that shimmered between colors.
"It's a pixel," she explained, and let it float in the air. As if magnetically attracted, it floated back to its spot and resettled where it was supposed to be.
Crayola slipped back into the game code and plucked a pixel. Some of the color seemed to be sucked out of the world, and she emerged holding a floating pixel.
Mist frowned as the highlights on her iridescent body turned to glitching spots. "I suggest you put that back or else people--um, dragons might start investigating."
Crayola popped the pixel back in the code and everything returned to normal.

From that night on they became friends and Crayola moved herself into Mist's den. She eventually took up the name Byte, and it turned out that Mist hoarded pixels. Byte would collect pixels for her, some of which she would keep for herself (she had about 20 that she could materialize at will.)
Only Mist and the leader of the clan, Northwind, knew how she got here and her past life. No one questioned how she never aged and how she happened to be so good at fighting as just a tiny hatchling, but that's how it would stay.

lore plans:
• mischievous little dragon
• no one is sure where she came from and she won't talk about it
• Mist is basically her adopted mother but treats her more like a little sister
• collects pixels for Mist
• how??? we have no clue
• just kidding
• due to her tiny permanently baby size and mysterious magical (???) powers she can slip into the game code and steal pixels
• oh, this level 25??? aint nothin
• Can And Will Fite You™
• well... only if you make fun of her or steal her pixels
• Mist lets her keep some pixels. She names them stuff like "Dank" and "Meme" and "boi"
• she can hear the pixels communicating in this weird language that she can speak. Mist speaks a little. binary maybe???
• according to her and Mist they all have different personalities.
• she calls her favorite pixel fren "v a p o r w a v e" because it's all glitchy and can't decide what color it wants to be. she got it from a rare glitch she found in the system and it always tags along with her now
• was apparently once a Ferocious Fighting Wildclaw™
• she opted to be a soft cute little dragon instead and breedchanged herself to a Spiral
• eats crayons. crayola's her fave brand. name before coming here was crayola.
• permababy? how? we may never know
• ok ok me know
• so yeah she was a Ferocious Fighting Wildclaw™
• and well she got a serious head injury in a fight that was fatal
• would've died but winddad came down majestically from the clouds and said "hey hey hey why u don't go to any wind clan and I'll either keep you eternally young or be healed in your adult body and forget all your memories!1!!"
• so yeah she chose to be eternally youthful and here she is
