Biography
AngeltheMerman and Tunfischhai - featured artists (anthro and dragon profiles, respectively)
Wraith's story is a curious one that actually starts with her centaur familiar, Rika.
Rika grew up with her herd in the Southern Icefields. Life is hard there, and pressure from a neighboring nesting group of dragons was making things even harder, pinching resources and killing off members of her family. Rika's father lead a strike on the small group of dragons, armed to the teeth and confident in their numbers. The dragons were prepared.
The attack left the nest site destroyed and Rika alone. She knew a few of the dragons had survived, but in the confusion of the fight, she didn't know how many or where they went. She herself was the only other survivor left standing in the wreckage. Well... that wasn't true. One of the dragon eggs survived, too.
Resisting the urge to smash the egg immediately, Rika kept it as a bargaining chip, in case the dragons came back. She packed her few belongings and left for a more habitable home. She never intended the keep the egg long enough for it to hatch, but it did. And when the first cracks appeared in the shell, she meant to kill the hatchling as soon as it emerged, before the egg residue could dry.
But she didn't. Instead, Rika ended up the sole caretaker of a ravenous, rapidly-growing young Mirror. Through the years, Wraith's confidence grew with her muscular body, and Rika soon found herself under the care of her own charge.
Though Wraith is now settled in Brightspire, she never seems to stop moving. The Clan swears she's found a way to be in multiple places at once, and their busybody Clan mother has no problem reinforcing that belief. In her case, it's true that opposites attract; Cora and Wraith couldn't be more different if they tried, though both tend towards silence except with each other. Wraith's body language and ear fans speak volumes, however, and she rarely needs to speak to make her opinions known.
Wraith's place at the head of the Clan offers Rika an unusual role - an honorary place in the boisterous Mirror pack the Clan leader has assembled. Rika does not often run with the pack, but she's always welcome - at least when Wraith is around to enforce that invitation. When the centaur declines the offer, however, Wraith's pack is a force to be reckoned with, and tends to act quickly and decisively. Cora's moderating presence doesn't travel with the pack, and it's not uncommon for Wraith and her team to head hunting teams and strike forces when necessary. In these times, diplomacy is a courtesy, but action takes precedence.
Rika usually spends her time gathering intel and gossip regarding the Clan, passing it on to her former charge and bolstering Wraith's reputation for being omnipresent and omniscient. The centaur delights in making sure no one notices her taking notes in order to preserve that image. Rika has been unofficially appointed the go-between for the Beastclan members living in Brightspire, from the Maren ambassadors to Griff's Longneck family. Even Shezzran occasionally stops by to fill the centaur in on anything she's missed. Rika makes sure her Beastclan companions remain safe, settling the occasional offenses and suspicions that arise from living in close proximity to dragons.
With Rika's help, Wraith knows exactly what is going on in the Clan, who is living where, and what "disasters" currently need her immediate attention. Between her attention to detail and her mate's eagerness to please, Brightspire Clan has become a well-run and well-loved place to live.
