Stormcatcher Scrap Metal Welding Lightning Tome

The Leader Vulcan
defacto clan leader

At one point he lived in the Shifting Expanse, wandering through his life and taking his time. Work was a thing that took second place in his priority list right below enjoying himself. No doubt he was hatched into the wrong flight, better suited for the comforts and laziness of the wind flight than the rigorous and fast-paced life of the lightning flight. He became increasingly slow on his work until finally, unable to handle it any longer, his clan swiftly kicked him out.

Suddenly faced with being an exile in his own home, unable to return to the Shifting Expanse without dire repercussion to himself, Vulcan threw himself into his work. If he could build the perfect robot, the Stormcatcher would have to bring him back into his home. Finding an abandoned forge in the Ashfall Wastes, he set up his own workshop and began collecting materials and other dragons. The other dragons were somewhat more of an accident than on purpose, and Vulcan didn't pay that much attention to the stragglers beginning to assemble around him. As long as they continued to bring him materials to work into his robot creations he didn't mind their continued presence.

As time moved on through his life, he began to slowly forget exactly why he was building robots. Much like any other tundra, his attention span had wandered and he figured he had been doing this for so long because it was what he was supposed to do. His sudden forgetfulness created a small ripple of shock through his newly forged clan. Suddenly, Vulcan was looking at most dragons as if they were his creations and not his fellow living creatures. With his continued hard work and practice, nearly all of his creations did indeed look nearly indistinguishable from living creatures.

In his workshop, with no memory of why he is doing it, he spends each day working on a new creation. Occasionally it takes him a week to create something he likes only momentarily before tossing it outside his lair with the exclamation, "Not good enough!" Many of the broken dragons and creations outside the lair are perfectly fine to the eye of anyone who hadn't created them, leading many dragons in the clan to wonder what their leader is not seeing.

Being leader isn't always easy but Vulcan tends to take it to the extreme. With his mind so focused on robots, he forgets there are living creatures in his clan. Often he himself forgets to eat. There are several robot members of the clan who try and task themselves with reminding the tundra to eat a meal, but the robots aren't the best judge of meal times and often tell him several days apart or in the middle of his sleeping cycle. Vulcan has thrown out several of these dud robots for interrupting him, resulting in even more trashed creations laying in the lair's garden.

For miles around on every side, the Ashfall Wastes stretch out. Since coming to live in the Flamecaller's realm, Vulcan has gone through many changes. His mind has perhaps slipped slightly into madness, but his skills the Stormcatcher prizes so dearly have risen up like a great tower in a flat land. No doubt if he remembered why he was creating the robots, he could go back to the Shifting Expanse and be welcomed with open arms for his productivity and dedication to his craft. Unfortunately, the time for him to remember why he is doing what he is doing has long passed and no one in the clan ever bothered to ask him why he was making robots in the first place. It seems the Ashfall Waste will be his home for much time to come, unless a spark of electricity can jump-start his memory into actually remembering.
