He hoped his skull was there too, He would never hear the end of it if he lost of. The page turning stopped and the room fell into a tense silence. After what felt like an age, the pearlcatcher appeared in his view again.
"Now tell me young one" He paused, his eyes trailing over the fae's body "How did you get so much power" The hungry look in his eye chilled Dresden to the bone. "My stunning good looks?" A disappointed frown formed on the pearlcatcher's brow. "Well if you won't tell me I will have to find out for myself" In the light the scalpel blade glinted, and Dresden paled. "Hey now" He protested, trying to wiggle as far away as the restraints would let him "I don't know why I'm like this!" The green lines that traced his scales began to shine, his power readying itself "Ask the Arcanist" He shouted. The scalpel almost at his scales "I don't know!" The ground rumbled and dust fell from the ceiling. The pearlcatcher glanced up, anger clear on his face, without turning he grumbled to his guardian "See what that is" The green glow from the fae was now giving his face and eerie glow. The guardian left the room, lumbering up a staircase concealed in shadow. |
"Lets start with those lines of power" A single claw traced his scales, following those green lines. The colour flashed brighter and the pearlcatcher was thrown across the room. A great roar soon followed, rock dropping from the ceiling. Dresden could feel the energy in the air, one he was familiar with two he was not. The sound of water muffled the next roar. "Your friend I presume?" I the pearlcatcher spat. Dresden tried to shrug "News to me" The two dragons watched the ceiling as more rock fell and dust began to coat every surface. Dresden started to direct his power against the restraints, attempting to open them. "Don't bother" The other dragon murmured his voice raspy as he looked to the ceiling, "They are warded as is this entire room" That explained how tired he was, and the runes on the walls. Before he could make a witty reply the ceiling caved and two guardians fell through the air. |

One, the scared guardian from before was entwined in the claws of a new, wave colored guardian. On the forehead of the blue/green dragon stood a tiny pink fae, anger clear in her eyes, black linen wraps protecting her scales as she charged the dragon easily ten times her size. A silver blade danced in her hands as she attacked, slicing the guardians cheek as they swooped towards Dresden.
"The runes!" He shouted, before the pearlcatcher's hand clamped his mouth shut, the scalpel in his free hand. Without stooping she changed course, skimming her blade across the walls breaking every rune on the wall. Green light flooded from them, flooding back to Dresden. The power coursed trough his veins, banishing his tiredness. He began straining against the restraints, trying to shake that hand off his mouth. His eyes widened as the blade was pulled high into the air before plunging down quickly, straight for him. He shut his eyes, trying to turn away from the attack.
Nothing.
He opened one eye, glancing around. The scared guardian was now pinned to the ground with chains made of water, the new guardians face clouded with worry as his deep eyes searched the room. Dresden opened his other eye to see Murphy atop the pearlcatcher repeatedly punching him in the jaw. The small fae dropped the now unconscious dragon to the ground as she turned to Dresden. Her shoulders relaxed as she she saw he was in one piece. She darted t o him, throwing her arms around his neck.
"You are not allowed to do that ever again" She whimpered, a tear on her cheek "I was so scared" She pulled away, a smile on her face, punching his shoulder, "That's for worrying me" Dresden flinched at the punch, smiling. The new guardian came into view, a warm smile on his lips as he undid the restraints, freeing Dresden. He rubbed his sore wrists, pulling a wing around Murphy as he turned to the guardian. "Thank you, I don't even know you but thank you" The guardian bowed his head "I would not have been able to save you if not for Murphy, I have never seen so much energy in one so small." He chuckled as Murphy grumbled at the comment "Thats my Murph" Dresden laughed as the two helped him to his feet. Murphy carefully gathering his book and the strange skull next too it. She shrugged at the guardian as she handed it to the Fae, He hugged both tightly before looking up at his audience "What?" He said as the two started laughing. "Come now little ones" The Guardian boomed "We should be getting home" "Home?" Dresden questions as the two climbed on the guardians back "And who is this guy?" "I'll explain on the way" Murphy chuckled. |

It was a fairly quiet day in the lair, it unnerved Dresden slightly. Murphy kept assuring him it was because half the clan were out today, still he didn't like it. His favourite pink fae was curled against his back, deep into a book. He himself sat at his desk, a scroll in front of him as he studied the recent notes he had made on Bob, Bobs skull sat on his desk too, the bird skull was covered in runes, they were glowing softly indicating he was still inside. Bob, the arcane elemental had become attached to the skull after a gone wrong experiment by a half crazed alchemist back at the observatory. Now he live in the clan with Dresden, a close friend. They had both noticed his power growing lately, the fae thought it might be something to do with the ever increasing magic now within the lair, Bob wasnt sure. Still it was something to be investigated. Suddenly the skulls eyes glowed pink as Bob woke up. His eerie voice drifted from the skull
“Hey boss?” Dresden’s eyes flicked over to the skull. Energy started to pour out of it as Bob took his form. A scroll was wrapped around his shoulders the end trailing down his back disappearing into the stars that created his lower half.
“Whats up?” He moaned, knowing that Bob was finicky about appearing
“We seem to have a problem” Dresden dropped his head to the desk in a loud thunk, stirring Murphy from her book
`”What type of problem Bob?” She asked, annoyance clear in her voice.
“Weell”
“Spit it out” She slammed her book shut, turning fully to the elemental
“There seemes to a sudden influx of elementals into the lair”
“What?!” The fae shouted, jumping into the lair, dresden picking up the skull and attaching it to his belt in one fluid motion
“Yes they are scattered about the lair,” Bob didnt seem to be too fussed by it all, yawning slightly as he followed the faes out of the room, following the sounds of screams.
