Mikan flew away from the Southern Icefields as soon as she was old enough to leave on her Search and never looked back. Her sunny, cheerful personality didn't seem to fit in very well there. She found what she was looking for in the Starwood Strand - a particular stained-glass window that she found in an abandoned building, with several panes missing. She was overjoyed to have found it, but anguished at the condition it was in, and her cry of anguish attracted the attention of two other Guardians who were nearby. It turned out that the abandoned building she had been destined to protect was the very same one in whose basement these two strangers, Kahtaven and Moonshadow, had found their own Charges. Naturally, they welcomed the newcomer into the clan after that.

Kahtaven found a book on the art of glassblowing, and worked with her to restore the window to its former glory. As she got to know more and more members of the clan, she made many friends and grew into the role of official event planner and organizer.
