Biography
His past was cold and dark and full of hunger.
Days blended into months and months blended into years of hardship and starvation. Faced with millennia of suffering, Edmund became his own source of warmth in a frozen world. He kindled his own fires; he built his own home; he made himself better food than most ever would in such a limited land.
He hadn’t noticed the fact that clan members were getting harder to come by. His former home broke down, and he continued on, building fires, not turning back to see a disbanded tribe of horrified wanderers.
He no longer saw the lights of his old town, nor did he hear the once-present murmur rising above the square. There was nothing left.
Still, he continued.
The fire was a labor of love that bore only shriveled fruit. When it was lit, it stayed for only minutes before returning to the ashes.
He wasn’t going to make it, was he? He was to freeze in the dead of night until the frostbite made him numb and… cold. Oh, so cold…
As a final resort, he made a decision. He sheltered his flames with a blanket of consuming shadow, a more protective force than the freezing winds might ever be.
It roared in response.
Then, he began to notice, people approached his fire.
Soon came the hunters, the killers, the assassins, sitting beside him as if they had shed no blood and done no wrong.
They started bringing back firewood. Food went from scarce to aplenty, and not a single soul slept with an empty stomach.
Why?
There was no reason for them to aid one dragon when they had taken so many. There could not have been an explanation for what they did-- It was something they themselves have no clue why they did to this day.
Of course, there was a reason, no matter how overlooked and hidden it was.
What they saw in Edmund was more than a pile of resources or a fresh victim. They saw a tether back to their humanity.

An old clanmate called him Kordian, meaning "looking through the heart" or "gives his heart."
