Queen of the Knights

"Let your wisdom come from the stars and your strength from the earth. Let flowers bring you peace and let water bring you tranquility."

Lore Under Construction
Other names: Carina

"I knew not of my parents, but of the forest in which I was born. A place I know now as the Shrieking Wilds. Once hatched, I only remember the green eyes that stared at me through the trees. A group of guardian dragons was passing through when one of them broke off from the rest and found me hiding in the underbrush. He was kind, unlike the others. He was merely a young adult. It was his first hunt with his family group but an overwhelming desire led him to me. It must have been his time to leave and find his Charge. And his Charge must have been me. He carried with him only a satchel with a shadow serpent tucked inside. He approached me with caution, but it wasn't long before he scooped me up and took me to the every looming gardens. Nightlock, the shadow serpent, raised me for the most part. Kayne was our protector. Despite my species, Nightlock managed to teach me how to speak the common language. And even more miraculous, she taught me to speak with fluidity and modulation. I'm stil unable to read most body language, for expressing emotions through my crest was only natural for my kind. And it never dawned on me until later that Nightlock was preparing me for leadership. She had recognized my potential early on, the strong fae I was becoming. Whereas most of my species was weak, she knew I was tiny but mighty. Kayne never possessed the qualities it took to lead. He only sought his Charge and his only desire was to protect. Matriarchs were often stronger anyway. Instead, Kayne learned to hunt, but he hunted with passion and mercy. He only captured and collected what we needed. As the days and months passed on, Kayne and I both recognized that we were becoming more than just friends. He who had saved me from almost certain death, and I who was his young queen. We shared one affair. One night under the stars that soon bore three eggs. It wasn't long after that that Kayne and I realized that we were best off as loyal friends. My daughter Rae was the only of the three to stay with me and my clan. The other two were unsatisfied and sought a higher cause. Buffy left to serve the arcanist and Noemi left to the lair of the Shadowbinder. None of them learned who their father was and to this day I have not told Rae. A while later, another far came along. One whom I came to love, but the rushed relationship didn't last. We bore twins on a day that only comes every four years, but they, too, all left me to serve a higher cause. From these experiences I have learned not to take true love for granted. I have come to the conclusion that remaining a single Queen is best for the clan. Kayne became a beta beneath me, with his mate Sugar. Each hunts to provide for the clan's daily needs. I simply lead and fight to defend my clan and the odd assortment of members within.

Now here I am. Queen of my own clan thanks to Nightlock and Kayne. They have each brought me purpose when I began as nothing. Abandoned by my own parents to perish in the forest. Now my clan thrives among the trees of the everblooming gardens."
