VELITH

Intelligent, Quick Thinking, Calculating, Determined, World-Wise, Intuitive Greedy, Cruel, Arrogant, Sly, Vain, Vengeful
Clan Trapmaker / Unmated

"It feels so good to be bad."
Sunlight dripped through the cloud cover, making its way weak and flimsy to the earth. Sparkling in the snow, a moderately sized nocturne lifted a wing and dropped it again in despair. All around the wolves circled. The nocturne lifted her head and let out a cry for help that her clan would not - could not - hear. The wolves circled closer. A chill crossed the air, dropped deep into the bones of the nocturne on her final moments. On a signal from the lead wolf, the others lead the charge to end her life.

Snarls turned to sudden yelps of pain and confusion as the ice around the nocturne collapsed and the wolves fell into a cleverly carved trap. Sharpened spines of ice sliced through the wolves and splattered blood across the clean white snow as the nocturne got to her feet to admire her work. She craned her head over the edge and watched the wolf below her, ice impaled through its chest.

"Stupid wolves," she purred contentedly, preening her wings back into their customary neatness and licking one claw with her tongue. She stayed there as the wolves howled in fury and pain, enjoying the chaos she created for the lowly creatures.

Parents tell their hatchlings tales about Velith to keep them in line, and not all of the tales are wildly spun. Many of them are true. Tortured a young longneck patrol for seven hours before letting him escape, only to crash down from the sky and end his life in an instant? True. Created a trap for an innocent owl cat that would end its life if there were none to come along and save it? Also true. Snatched a hathcling out of his bed after a day of misbehaving? Debatable, but not far out of the realm of possibility for this incredibly malicious dragon. The stories told are overshadowed only by the truth of her interesting, evil life.

Hoarded items are meticulously recorded and accounted for on a daily basis. Not a single item goes missing without her express permission and on the occasion that something has been stolen, she easily tracks down the thief to make their life shorter and her hoard the correct size again. Second chances do not exist with Velith and she rarely gives first. Getting on her bad side is not a recommended way to continue living, and really getting on her radar at all is highly discouraged. Living in her current clan has made her somewhat more understanding to those around her, if only just that tiny bit. She is still completely untrustworthy and dangerous to every dragon and creature around for miles.

She resides at the highest point of her clan's territory, letting her scout who comes and goes and allowing her to check the traps she has laid around. Although the rest of the clan considers her somewhat evil beyond all redemption, they agree that her traps have helped the clan more than they have hurt it. She delights in the trickery of her home-flight and uses any event as an excuse to brew up her own form of trouble. Setting traps for unwary animals and travelers are some of her favorite things although she does enjoy a good session of torture to lighten the day.

She isn't all bad, of course, no dragon can possibly be all bad. She enjoys a good laugh at the expense of others, eagerly helps the clan when plotting anything remotely devious, and keeps everyone safe by causing beastclan members to divulge information. With a mind to keep up to date on the news and the rest of the clan's business, she is easily the best dragon to go to when one needs gossip or information. In fact, if she weren't already so dastardly on her own, she would make a rather good spy for anyone in the clan, for the right price. She does enjoy her shiny trinkets and gold pieces.
