Maxwell

Also known as William Carter. He was once a magician specializing in tricks of the mind and the light, but sadly he wasn’t very good at it. Until he found a dusty old tome. With it he could create shadow monsters which awed the masses. However one day he was pulled into his book with his assistant. After humoring the shadow monster for a long time on his shadow thrown he was set free by another. For quite some time after that he roamed the islands he once ruled. Then he saw a maiden fighting the shadow monsters with a spear. Mistaking her for his assistant, who he deeply missed, he waded into the water after her. When he woke he made a touch and wander from the beach into the Hewn City where he was found by the night watchmen. To this day he is unfazed by the tricks of the shadowy creatures that live in the Hewn City, but he insists on having a source of light near him at all times. Maxwell is convicted that he could get back to the islands that he once ruled by using his book again, but he doesn’t want to go back, so he doesn’t let anyone touch his book.
