When Tir na nOg settled its boundaries against the world of Sornieth, and the dragons trickled in, Danu decided that they would be allowed to clutch here. As she was the mother goddess, she declared this and it was so. Usng her great magics she drew up two great statues from the living stone. Looking to the forme her daughter took, Branwen, her fairest, she decided to give them the sturdy yet agile body of Guardians. Fitting, as these two liths would eternally guard the clutching hollow. She made these stone golems massive, three stories tall, with all of the wit and tenzcity of the Guardian they were modeled after. She used their natural drive to finish their Search, and made this hollow their Charge.

She made the female smaller, but more bulky and quicker of mind. She was slimmer, sharper of claw. But she was also given the ability to reproduce. She was told to make more of herself and her mate, for they would ring the misty borders and make an impenetrable wall. Every so often she would begin to gorge on the surrounding stones, making a paunch in her belly area. After about a year of collecting small bodies would trace themselves from the stone and fall away, small, fully formed Guardian statues. For the next five years they would eat of the stone and minerals of the labryinth, growing to a full ten feet.

But what Danu did not see, was that her liths children would inherit The Search as well. But, unlike other Guardians, their Charges would always be Breeding Grounds. As they were statues crafted by a Goddess, they could be degraded by no natural means. No the hottest flame could sear them, not the strongest acid could score them. When they found their charges they would consume the stones and minerals around them, becoming one with the environment.

There will often be twins, and these twins will almost always stay together.
