Cainwen was alone. Being in the Plague flight, the general populace accepted that if he was not able to fight on his own, he would succumb to death. However, wandering into a small, coastline town on the Wandering Contagion, a librarian noticed the hatchling and hired him to pickpocket travelers of any valuable information they might have gathered from their travels. Cainwen was a natural. Though he was brightly colored, he had such a silent presence that when one wasn't paying fervent attention to him, he seemed to simply stop existing.

As he grew, the tundra developed a strange affinity with learning, and began to keep thorough logs of every situation he encountered to counter the poor memory of the Tundra breed. The librarian fostered this development, and soon Cainwen was mass-hoarding information and observations of every journeyman who passed him by.
