"Souls burn in her gaze, she is the bringer of ends, but she will soon learn that some minds will not bend."
"Hah! I can sense your fear darling, and it is delicious. Come, let me taste..."
"Your insignificance is truly amusing - you are so painfully unaware of it! I find that very... attractive in a mortal."
"Dare you look upon my true face?"

Date with a Demon..
"Her flayed skin disgusts you, but there is a dangerous, feral beauty too that cannot be denied. As she smiles and presses her blackened lips against yours, though repelled, you do not attempt to push her away. Her tongue, hotter than molten lava, burns your flesh in seconds, the white hot pain destroying countless nerve-endings as it melts through to bone and marrow. It is an exquisite balance of pain and pleasure that no mortal could ever hope to endure, and all too soon the demon pulls away, sighing impatiently as another plaything is ruined. She steps over your smouldering corpse toward the fiery portal home, forgetting you in an instant as she is called back to her own hellish dimension. The Ancient Ones are waiting."
I do not fear death, for I am already dead
What does it say about a hypothetical species when daily atrocities become staples of the news, and the people is so desensitised to horrors and suffering that we can flip the page of a newspaper and carry on with our day. The freedoms that were won by our ancestors have been squandered and taken for granted, and we have become sheep, allowing ourselves to be led to the slaughterhouse. We are seen by the Higher-Ups as nothing but idiot fodder, our sole purpose to turn the cogs of a machine that does nothing and goes nowhere, but keeps as occupied. Deep down most of us know this, we must do, but we don't care enough to do anything about it.
How did we get to the stage where we value cheap labour and even cheaper goods than over the cost of lives? After the horrors of two world wars we said said "never again", and yet nearly 80 years later, we are none the wiser, and concentrations camps and terrorism and governments so corrupt that they would try to cover up the deaths of millions to protect their biological warfare research - are all swept under the carpet. Life as we know it has now changed forever, and yet there is no accountability. The cure is forced upon us, and we are criminals if we dare to ask why. Maybe we would be more willing if we knew someone had to pay the price of yet another of our lost freedoms. Maybe we would be willing to be locked up and injected if we knew that those who had afflicted us in the first place would be dealt with, and justice served. But instead of taking a stand, we actually pay that vile regime to provide us with protective gear, tests, and medicine, and they make money from the suffering that they themselves caused. How is this right, in a modern age where we can visit the stars and explore the oceans and uncover the heart of an atom, how can the misery of hundreds of millions be allowed to slide for fear of offending the criminals?
I despair, I mourn for that species, for I am one of them. We had so much potential. We squandered the gifts bestowed upon us by sheer cosmic good fortune, and we have ruined the planet we dared to call home. Once, we did great things, but we have stagnated, and now in every endeavour we corrupt all that we touch. Some of us could have saved the world, and earnt respect that way. The people could have looked to them as benevolent and wise saviours. But instead they have chosen to try and rule the world, and would rather the rest of us feared them. Those whose faces are under the boot, the ones who turn the cogs, the slaves and the proles - one day I hope with every fibre of my being that they are able to break free from the brainwashing and tear down the insidious regime, and that the rest of us soon follow.
But until then, Darquesse, I implore you - come to us, we need you. I offer you our world, a world of corruption, selfishness, greed and violence. Punish us and make us anew, stop us from hiding behind a mask of self-inflicted ignorance and force us to take responsibility for our sins. We deserve you, and I beg you to take us. May I be the first of many!
