This was here and too cool to delete!

Boreal was granted the ability to recreate the appearance of another dragon, down to every last scale. He didn't always look like a tree, but when he was saved by the dragon who looked like one, he fell in love immediately, and accidentally mimicked her colors. He hasn't felt the need to change them ever since

A strange mist swirled around a bright purple Skydancer, which bounced from branch to branch, quiet as the air around him. Randall was a mimic dragon, granted the ability to perfectly imitate his surroundings by changing the pigment of his body. He uses it well, not a soul could see him if he did not wish it. Neither land nor sky beast could find him when he matches the very ground he stood on. His trek through the mist blanketed woods came to sudden halt when he spotted something -- or rather, somethings -- below him. There was a mother deer and her fawn, but something was wrong; the fawn wasn't following its mother. Upon closer inspection, the fawn was trapped in thick snow from last night's storm. He never was one for heroism, he thought to himself, and sat on the branch he stood on to gaze upon the situation. Before he could notice, a large tree beside him began to move, and he nearly squawked in surprise. Turns out that ancient tree was an imperial, hued to match the snowy forest around her. Randall was jealous of this dragon's mimicking abilities, and considering going to give her a piece of his mind, but stopped when he saw what she was doing. The Imperial bumped the fawn with a claw, and before it could see her as a dragon, she was still as the trees around her, just as she was before, and the fawn went to chase after its mother. Once they were far enough away, the envious Skydancer set down in front of the still dragon, and snarled up at what he most likely thought was her head; he honestly couldn't tell tree from dragon.

"Hey! How dare you be so good at mimicking? Only a few Skydancers are granted that ability! Show yourself you coward, and fight me!" he shouted with a growl at the end. His calls were so loud that it shook snow off both the trees, and just so happened to disturb a hibernating yeti.

It grabbed its hammer and lumbered out of its icy den, roaring deep through the trees, and towards Randall it went as he yelled incoherent things at the trees. Before he knew what was happening, the yeti grabbed him by a wing, and forcibly pinned him to the ground with its monstrous foot. The small purple Skydancer's chest felt as though it were being crushed, and every time he exhaled he could only take a smaller and smaller breath. He tried to mimic the ground beneath him, but it was to no use, there was no escaping the yeti, which roared him in the face and lifted its hammer to smash his skull in.

Just before the hammer came crashing down, the tree Imperial from before dashed over the yeti, knocking its hammer to the ground. She used her wing as leverage, and spun on it to land on her feet facing the yeti, and snarled, her enormous and lengthy body quivering in protective anger, an icy mist pouring from her gaping maw. The yeti roared in return, ignoring the offending mimic dragon to stomp to the Imperial, but he never got close. She arched her neck backwards, her eyes turning white as snow, and then released the mist in a concentrated beam, thin as ice on a spring-time pond, and once connecting to the yeti, exploded in an icy hurricane, freezing the yeti in its tracks.

Randall was floored, and rolled onto his side, heaving from the pressure on his chest. "H-how did you do that?" he croaked, his eyes glistening with awe at the beautiful female before him.

After composing herself, she glanced at him on the ground, and replied solemnly, "Old Kingdom magic, something impossible for any dragon nowadays to perform. I apologize you had to come head to head with that yeti. Perhaps I should have stepped in sooner, but your words were quite uncalled for, little purple one."

He soaked up her words like water on a sponge, wonder-struck by the beauty of the dragon before him. She introduced herself as Snowpine, an ancient tree dragon, old as the first born tree in Sornieth, given the honor-bound duty of guarding the forest they both stand in. Not long after she touched him to help him out of the snow, Randall immediately mimicked her colors accidentally, and flushed bright red in the cheeks when Snowpine noticed.

"I'm so sorry! I can r-revert back to my normal colors" he choked out as he got ever more nervous while Snowpine got closer and closer to his face. She smiled at him, and purred, "You're fine, Randall. The colors suit you," finishing with a light kiss on his cheek. He brushed brighter, and Snowpine turned tail and strutted away, slowly waving her tail around at him as she went. Randall followed, keeping her colors, never changing them. After all, why should he?
