Born under ill omens, from an egg with no parents. Regarded by the clan as a harbinger of misfortune, he flocked to Za'Kir personal court when he had barely shaken off the remains of his eggshell.

Dispatched when any news of rising undead reach the clan. He is an efficient and thorough hunter.

It had all been a ruse. The moment the he had proof that Nyx, the elusive skydancer, used the power of the Shade for her vile magicks, he broke his enchantment and burst free of the Guardian guise he had worn. He rose against those he had supported, all for the burning hatred he felt deep within for the Witch of the Shade. Past allegiances were broken as he revealed his true purpose: to hunt down those that the Shade had touched. The Hight Court would never be the same again.

Unfortunately, as Ripfang confronted the Shade-touched skydancer witch, he made the error of not securing the location beforehand to prevent potential collateral damage from harming either the lair or any dragon passing by. Nyx used this to her advantage and escaped when Ripfang was forced to tend to Soyonzur, who had been hit by the blast of their combined magic. Her injuries were grave, however, and Nyx's vile magic was eating away at the pearlcatcher, and Ripfang resorted to the one thing he hoped would save her.

He turned her into one of the ancients.

They are now the First Gaolers of the High Court. Two former hunters, now united to hunt down prey larger and more dangerous they have ever hunted before - beings touched by the Shade.
