Don't be fooled - He's not a good guy.

Ignis #666 -> Marduk

The Firstborn Imperial son to The Beast.

He would tell you that he was chosen - Raised to be proud of his bloodline and groomed to one day take over his mother's mantel. He was trained by Ignis in the ways of The Shade, which gave him near mastery of his Shade-touched abilities. Eventually he decided to leave and create something for himself, knowing that one day he would return to his mother's side.

Marduk is a liar.

The truth was that only the strongest of Ignis' children survived their mother. Marduk only knew of himself and a few sisters that were able to avoid the fate that had befallen the rest of the Beast's spawn. He had been the first child born after his mother had been changed by the Shade into an Imperial - the first of her children to look like her. This may have given her pause in immediately dispatching him, instead allowing him the time to hide.

He hadn't left right away, as he was only a hatchling and naive to the world. His instincts clashed with one another, to stay near his mother but to also fear her. The whispers that were an almost endless stream throughout his consciousness told him what to do to survive. He would follow behind his mother through the tangled woods of the Gladevines at a distance in those days, staying low, waiting for her to get a kill and taking his food from whatever bits and pieces that she left behind.

One bad encounter when he got too close, resulted in large gashes to his face and lower back. He thought that he would die, but the voices in his head chanted louder and louder until an inky black covered the open wounds. Once he recovered enough strength, Marduk left the Viridian Labyrinth and The Beast behind.

The respect that he was given in his earlier years, stemmed from the fear that other dragon's possessed for his mother. None of them would have ever seen the Beast in person, but they had heard tales of her wrath since they were young as though she were just a monster in a fairy tale. His lineage was very rarely questioned, due to his darkened appearance and his close ties with the Shade. Without having to consistently fear for his survival, Marduk was able to flex the abilities that he had inherited from his mother. In his travels he would learn the name of the whispers that seemed to possess him - The Shade.

Eventually, Marduk built a tower for himself in the Scarred Wasteland, close to an Ancient dragon clan. (He couldn't recall the last time he had encountered a dragon older than his mother, so rare they were.) There in his tower, he chose to grow a legacy.

Character notes:

- With each exhale, black tendrils of smoke escape his mouth, which are soon inhaled back in. Some speculate that it is the shade slowly escaping his body. The inside of his mouth, pads of his feet, and claws are all silver. He has 3 sets of horns - 2 pairs of antlers and ram horns beneath. He has many piercings, all silvers studs and rings. Black claw wounds mar the right side of his face and his flank, given to him by his mother (He tells stories of a large shade-touched creature that he defeated - consuming it's flesh and power for the lucky strikes that it got on him).

- He prides himself on his appearance, so he grooms himself often - behind closed doors of course. (He finds it a desirable quality in a mate, if they also want to assist in keeping him well groomed)

- There were many cursed abilities that the Shade gave him power over. (He wasn't foolish enough to delude himself into believing that these were blessings. The Shade gave him power but it also took) Many of these abilities passed on to his offspring - some mutated into powers that not even Marduk possessed. He is not a kind father - he refuses to train any of his children in harnessing their shade-touched powers, but instead lets them each figure it out on their own. (As he did - it made him strong, so he believed that it would do the same for them) Fortunately they each have their siblings to learn from and practice on.

- Isn't above fighting dirty and tricking his opponents. At a young age, his fighting style was very primal. As an elder, he chooses to use magic from afar to rend and tear his opponents apart.

-Only really uses his powers for "good" when it comes down to pure inconvenience for him to do anything otherwise.

-Enjoys dabbling in alchemy and poisons, after being taught by another dragon in the clan.

- Low key refuses to lay a claw on any of his offspring in any situation other than sparring. He can be verbally blunt, if not harsh instead.
