Lore

As the second hand to a vicious matriarch, Taran often finds herself carrying out Aries' dirty work. She heavily depends on Aries protection and approval, and therefore will do anything the matriarch asks of her. With blind loyalty, Taran enforces the matriarch's commands. She's lethal when necessary. Taran will never take a mate or attempt to live a life of her own. Her loyalty is to Aries, and Aries alone.

---

The Ice Misfit
Taran was young when she wandered away from her home in the Snowsquall Tundra. She knew from her first few interactions with the native dragons that she didn't belong. She had a fiery disposition and was prone to emotional outbursts. Her moods could change in the blink of an eye. Such a stark contrast to the typical, stoic followers of the Icewarden.

Taran set off without a plan. Of course she did, it was a spur of the moment decision to leave. Her spontaneity was as much a part of her as the blood sprayed patterns on her skin. Realizing she was in over her head, she barely made it through The Starfall Isles and Scarred Wasteland unscathed. So inexperienced in the world she lived in, she had to learn first hand the fierce dedication other dragons had to their clans. She was so lonely and she desperately needed someone to care for her. She didn't realize her own dependency on other dragons until she was isolated. Each clan ran her off, gnashing their teeth in warning for her to not return.

The Driftwood Drag
The blood spattered dragon was a mental wreck by the time she made her way to The Tangled Wood. She was scared, alone and emotionally beaten. The Woods were dark and she was able to hide away in a hollow log in the Driftwood Drag. There she stayed, no idea of where to go next and lacking the will to continue on. In a crumpled heap, she essentially gave up.

In the darkest hour of the night, Taran heard a faint sniffing noise followed by a soft hiss. The ceiling of her hideout pressed inward just slightly and Taran knew another dragon had found her. She froze in terror and stayed still for nearly an hour. Surely, the other dragon must have left. She let out a sigh of relief. Just as she went to take another breath her world was shattered. The log above her splintered and a dark claw came crashing down, grabbing her by the neck. Taran tried to scream but the pressing claw kept her protests muffled in her chest. Taran writhed and squirmed, kicking and fighting for all she was worth.

Meeting Aries
The other dragon, a black and white mirror, pulled her from her hiding place in one swift motion. She slammed her to ground and pinned her by her shoulders. Taran lay helplessly on her back. The dragon she would come to know as Aries looked into her frightened eyes, ice shards glistening like glass. "What are you doing in my territory?" In a rush, Taran spit out her whole story. How she left home, how she was chased away from the other clans, how she was alone and afraid and had no where to turn. Aries sat back and looked over the young female. Taran saw a large guardian looming in the distance, calmly watching Aries. He must be her mate. Taran shuddered, knowing that this mirror and her mate could easily kill her.

Taran's Fate
"You can stay with us. I'll tell you this once, and I will not repeat myself. Do not cross me." There's no telling what Aries saw in Taran that made her trust the unfamiliar dragon. By default, Aries distrusted and despised everyone. She never even told her mate why she chose to let Taran in their clan. It's no matter now, Taran is fiercely loyal to Aries and eternally grateful to her for sparing her life. Taran became the matriarch's right hand that day, a role she will never betray.
