The Seer
"Best settle down close, dearest. This one is going to take a while."

There are any number of prophets and seers on Sornieth, from Wind haruspixes who count birds, to dream-readers of all flights, to the famous Bubble-Speakers of Water itself. Every visionary has their own level of accuracy, from charlatans speaking broadly enough to be true anytime, to vague but certain speakers like Moros, to greater seers who offer immutable prophecies. It can be hard to stand out from such a varied crowd, and Leithianel doesn't try. Her customers are happy to sing her praises and her method of seeing is exhaustive but very, very accurate.

Her powers weren't always as strong as they are now. As a hatchling, no one even suspected she would have Water's prophetic affinity. Born to non-natives and tested later than normal, Leithianel surprisingly had some ability and decided to train down in the Spiral Keep. Her particular powers focused on probability; the branching chain of action and reaction and how to "look" for the best probability for a specific outcome. She walks them in a dream-like state, 'becoming' her client in her trance, testing and reversing her decisions as she 'walks'. After years of training and discipline (and a brief fling with a fellow disciple), the imperial emerged surprisingly alone; her parents and siblings had all left to serve the deities.

Travelling fresh from the Keep, she made quick friends with another Imperial on his way to the Shifting Expanse. Laufey was a spatial mage with great control but little raw power, advised by an old clanmate that the Stormcatcher had use for mages like him. Entertained by his bright disposition, she agreed to travel with him to the great desert. They found a home with a local clan and Laufey soon found employment as a technician on the spires, repairing the structures without needing to open them while Leithianel plied her future-seeing trade. Sadly, he died several years ago and the clan they stayed with began to feel less and less like home. She asked the first customer to contact her after his death if she could live with them while she sought their answers. They acceded and she has followed that model ever since.

She makes it a point not to look into her own future, so she was a bit stunned when she saw herself while scrying for a client. Normally faces are dim or forgettable unless she is introduced to them or the dragon is described in great detail. But in her dream, she stood talking to a small green-grey fae and she watched her own face, along with another hazy imperial, converse gaily before retreating down a wide tunnel. Searching for specifics, she gazed around at the pale ruins and massive green trees; the Sunbeam Ruins, it had to be. Pulling herself from the dream, she rushed to her client and told him he had to go east. They both had to go east.

Every few days into their travel, she would submerge her head in her massive seer's basin and divine whether they were in the right direction. When they encounter the first boulder with a beaten bronze solar symbol, her heart soars. They are introduced to the clan and while her client goes to find the fae, she goes looking for others of her breed.
It is not just one, but a circle. Four other Imperials with antlers as broad as her own look up and smile and she feels, in the same way that she knows when she 'sees', that here is a place she could be happy.
