For the most part, Briarrun Outpost is a quiet collection of traders making their way in the world, protected from the outside world by the curling lengths of the Foxfire Bramble. Save for minor disputes between competing traders, Briarrun is peaceful, and rarely does it see violence.
Kali helps to enforce this.
Unlike most other Briarrun residents, she is not an active merchant. Instead, she patrols between traders on her daily path, keen eyes peeled for any sign of trouble, sword at the ready to dispel it. At first, she had to break up fights regularly, before her name was known by every dragon wishing to set up shop in the Bramble. But now, with years of experience behind her, the steel in her voice matches the blade she carries, and few dare to cross her. This cool composure has landed her a guaranteed seat at the monthly Thornmoot, too, in the event that disputes show no sign of settling.
Beneath that cool facade, though, Kali longs for a life that allows her to see the sky again. Briarrun is too densely thorny to fly through, and stretching her wings to their full span is a luxury only afforded to her once is a blue moon. She misses the wind on her face and the clouds beneath her claws. She remembers twirling between forks of lightning in her desert homeland, and letting the rain slide off her back.
What a life that would be to have again.
