Ujevare
Water Paladin
Writer Neutral Good
"Writing is the best thing ever"
She was born without any sort of divination magic, a crippling defect for both a Coatl and a Water flight dragon. Worse still, the feeling of magic made her sick. Magic has an unmistakable scent to it, and its heavy, undeniable presence gave her headaches. The taste, either lingering from the smell or something she licks that is made of it, reminds her of of bugs dredged in flour, crinkly and moist in all the wrong places. Magic doesn’t live in her bloodstream and it isn’t hidden in the muscle that coils in her paws or furls in her wings. Without magic or the ability to handle it near her, Ujevare was a gentle outcast in her first home. Nobody actively kept her out of their lives, but the constant passive behavior of other dragons was isolation enough. Ujevare yearned to prove them wrong, though not through holding otherworldly talent. For magic was such an ugly thing when it came into contact with her specifically… Instead, Ujevare wanted a home, and to mean something to someone and even to the world. By tooth and claw, Ujevare carved out a home for herself. Her second, and most awkward phase, were towers and libraries. They were a welcome change from cliffs and rivers, but the location of these areas was less than fortunate. Ujevare had come to the heart of the very thing she couldn’t stand, and because of that – well, of course her time in the Starfall Isles was akin to hell. From day to night, and sleep was no escape either, she could feel the swelling of magic outside her window and sometimes it would get to such, such enormous levels she readied herself to be consumed by it – It didn’t, of course, magic didn’t have a literal mouth to eat a dragon with, but Ujevare’s caution never went away until she left instead. But, ah, the libraries… Books, she found, were interesting. She adored the written word, and the discovery that other dragons had made novels of themselves struck an unknown, yet deep, chord in her. Ujevare didn’t have to leave a scar on the land, or achieve great things, or become a magician. She could be known by being herself. The Starfall Isle days were behind her even before she had truly left them. Her home was not there and it would never be, but there were days in the tower where, if the timing was right, the glimmer of the sun illuminated a canopy in the distance. The canopy was made out of reeds and leaves, light green things that never lived in the ocean, too high in the air to meet with the water. In the Reedcleft Ascent, Ujevare came into her own, with newfound inspiration of what she wanted to be and a new place to live in. She was welcomed and loved, and she had someone she could call a best friend. All things thrive in nature. Wounds from inability or pressure fade, and the scabs give in to the pure essence of the wilderness. Her time with Nyvolana, that best friend who happened to be a dragon filled to the brim with magic, was unusually soft and subtle. Magic didn’t overwhelm her anymore – that wound had healed too. @CyanideRawr |
