Ilay nestled in my den with Neil. The warmth vibrates off of him. I go to curl up closer to him, but he isnt there, weird. I awaken to see that he's sitting up gazing down at me. He sits up and walks outside. I follow him out and grab some breakfast from the food pile. I dig into the deer meat. I gouge it down in one gulp. I didnt even realize how hungry I was. Neil leans closer to me and nuzzles my side, making a cooing noise. We decide to join the border patrol and talk along the way.
~A few days later~
Isit crying in my den, Neil is leaning over me comforting me. "I didnt mean for this to happen" I hiccup. "Its alright love." He soothes. "I cant start a family..I'm still too young..." I hiccup and cry again. "We'll manage. The rest of the clan will be here to support us." He coos while resting his head on my head. I sigh. "Alright, lets go tell the new to yours and my parents." I breathe out. We walk to visit my parents den area. I tell them the news. They're shocked at first, but then happy. They go to look at our eggs while we head to tell Neil's parents. They however, are less understanding. They look at me in disgrace. It's tradition for a dragon to give you a token of their love before starting a family. Heading back to our den, I greet my parents with warm greetings and cheerful talk about the eggs. |

Later that month, the eggs started to hatch. Neil and I stand watch to greet our new members. Two wildclaws come out and one pearlcatcher, who looks more like his father. I feel a slight breeze come in. Neil goes to look outside. "Looks like a storm is coming, a nasty one at that." I go out to grab food for the kids and what I get is...snarls, weird looks and turned bodies. I quickly grab what I need and rush back. News travels fast...I'm a disgrace, not just with Neil's parents now, but the whole clan. My daughter whom we named,Julissa, is carrying up a cold. I ask Neil to bring the medic over but, he wont come. I sigh and try to comfort her. I warm her and my other 2 children. Neil huddles over us all. Now, the wind and storm is starting to pick up. Julissa, still isnt getting better. I decide it's time for me to find help. 'I'm a disgrace here anyway..' I think. Neil says he has to stay behind, he hopes I come back safe and wishes me luck. He gives each of our kids a kiss. I put all our food, some warm moss wraps and water, into our makeshift sack. I grab another and set my kids inside and takes to the sky. The storm starts to pick up. This is the worst it's ever been in a while. I fly and fly, but soon, I'm too weak and my wings are almost frozen. I continue to walk on foot. I come across a caravan of some sort, with hatchlings and dragons alike sitting on the back and some gliding besides it. The leader of it, stops and ushers me along with them. I gladly accept and set myself into the open carriage. |

It's a long ride, before I feel the warmth of air. We arive at a house, with more clusters of dragons and hatchlings. We stop and everyone gets off. I find the medic and ask her to check Julissa. She takes her into the den and checks her. I let Seraph and Glydan out of the sack. They run around the den stretching their legs. They're also curious of what the imperial is doing to Julissa. She tells me that it doesnt look good. She is very ill and need special care. I feel the tears coming on. She recommends that I send her to Icewarden. He'll be able to heal her and make sure she'll be ok. I nod in agreement. I hug her close, give her some coos and kisses. The imperial sends a guardian in, she whispers something into his hear, and he carries Julissa off into the horizon. I keep Seraph and Glydan close to me. We're then ushered off into the house. We sit in the slot and necklaces with numbers are placed on us. Realization comes to me. Oh no, this is 'that' house. I gulp and keep my children close. Once we're settled a dragon comes by and points to Glydan. He exchanges treasure with the other dragon and picks up Glydan. I beg him to not take him, he just carries on and walks out of the house. Later that day, the same happens to Seraph. I beg the dragon to not take him, but to no avail, he doesnt return him. I sit in dispair and sorrow. Wallowing in my own guilt. Days and weeks go by, dragons look at me and walk past, some converse, others dont see me at all. Then a miracle happens. A black fae aproaches me and takes off the necklace. She introduces herself and takes me to her home. Once we arrive, I soar into the sky. I remember fanticizing about this as a kid. Seeing the world and exploring. One day maybe it will happen..but not yet. I want to think about my children and Neil, what it would be like with them still here. I sigh. One day I will see them again. |
