Kristoff has tested the limits of his poison resistance ever since he first hatched. Right out of the shell he slurped up a tendrilback caterpillar; a poisonous delicacy even adults tend to avoid. Growing up in his mother's conservatory gave him ample opportunity to discover other toxic flora and fauna to poke, pick, or ingest. He came up with a game to play with his friends (since his brother wouldn't participate) called 'numb or not.' They'd take turns licking potentially poisonous finds and then rate the poison level based off of how numb their tongues became. Unfortunately, in addition to the numbing sensation, his friends experienced blisters, stinging, hallucinations, and other ill side-effects; now only Kristoff plays.
"It's NOXIOUS, not obnoxious!"

Kristoff decided to become an alchemist specializing in poisons after much encouragement from his mother to put his talents to better use. While he is studying the poisons Serthis use and working on antidotes for them, this really just gives him an excuse to hoard any toxic thing he encounters. Especially those ancient mushrooms...
