There is something unnatural about them.

No life within.

They cannot blink or glance around, they cannot quiver or weep. Of all the mannerisms and subtleties she's been taught, this one is unconquerable. No member of the gentry, regardless of bloodline, has ever managed to craft a wholly perfect disguise; this is a constant point of vexation for them.

And yet her eyes - a deep and rich blue, beautiful and utterly wrong - were necessary to her tasks. They allowed her to read the true contents of her Book. They allowed her to see the intricate, ever-changing mechanisms to open the Locket and whisper secret messages through the tiny scrying mirror. They allowed her to tear away the facade and force all falsehoods into the shadows.

Such a dangerous thing has to be hidden at times.

She stands at the left hand of the Queen, guards her touch against iron with enchanted gloves and slippers, is careful and quiet and mostly benevolent. No true dragon would be suspicious or concerned, if not for the eyes.

She is of the Seelie court, and her eyes reveal the truth.
