Biography
Nightfall
High Priestess
Speaker for the Gods Voices in the Wind In every clan there is a dragon that feels more strongly the gods’ influence than their peers. Called seers, oracles, priests and what more have you, those with the power to listen are both revered and feared. Some claim that their gift can be passed down in their bloodlines, breeding stronger seers as time goes by. Others believe that their curse is but a whim of fate. Regardless, that is not a service taken lightly, and many a dragon have succumbed to madness rather than heed the voices. Or mayhaps it would be madness to do just that. Speaker for the Gods In the beginning when the clan was but an idea, and when the only ones were the queen and her mate, the gods spoke directly to the matriarch. That is not unusual, and she eagerly sought out a seer to unburden her. Her prayers were answered in the form of Nightfall, a skydancer that as a hatchling was sensitive to the realms above her. As Nightfall grew older, so did her powers, and she became respected among the clan as a reliable seer and as a just mediator should the queen need assistance. Skydancers are naturally inclined to such roles, as their orb allows them to sense any minute change in the energy around them. To have a skydancer seer is considered a special asset to the clan. And as her powers grew so did her influence on the clan’s matters. The only one capable – or mayhaps the only one inclined – to argue and deny the queen, Nightfall proved herself a mighty foe in the politics of the clan. Hearing the gods meant that she was the one to decide which hatchlings should be kept and which should join, as well as their names and roles. Testament to her power is the fact that sometimes she defied the gods themselves and took action into her own hands, trying her best to decide what was best for the clan – for the gods are fickle creatures, and their judgement can’t be blindly trusted. To prove that no favorites were taken, none of her own offspring were ever allowed to remain with the clan. Most of them went off to serve the gods themselves as exalted acolytes, though a few joined different clans to continue their mother’s work. Unlike her, Nightfall’s mate isn’t gifted with anything other than what is common for their kind, but Daybreak is always willing to help his mate in her interpretations, and delights a bit too much in the theatrics around it. |
