BIOGRAPHY
Periphae grew up in The Spiral Keep, closest to the Tidelord and his wonderous prophesies. Her family were all Fae, and all gifted seers and mystics. Dragons would travel far and wide to seek the advice of her family, and they were all well-respected, their prophesies revered as the Tidelord's. Tragedy struck when a terrible storm destroyed her home, leaving many dead, and the rest abandoned. Periphae swam to shore, distraught. She knew nothing except her upbringing, only schooled in the art of her gift of far distant future sight. With her family gone, she set out to create a new home, where she would gather many with gifts like hers to be worthy of her family name. As she was building her home, she met a lone Mirror named Beguiler, who helped her build her clan. Periphae had indeed found many like herself, as she had set out to do, but had also gathered a multitude of other dragons along the way, who found a home in the clan she'd built. It was only a matter of time before Beguiler confessed his feelings for her. Periphae was incapable of returning them in exactly the same way, but she had a deep, platonic affection for him, so they were wed. Beguiler gave her a pearl necklace as a sign of his pledge to protect her and the clan, and a sign of his love. Periphae never takes it off. To carry on the legacy of her parents, Periphae and Beguiler had two clutches of eggs together. Not the maternal type, Periphae left the egg tending to her nursemaids for her first clutch. Her second clutch was late to hatch, and Periphae anxiously kept vigil. At last, she bore a daughter to carry on her family name, for it is through the maternal line that the power is carried. She is teaching her daughter how to control her visions and make them even stronger. As per tradition, all of her children bear the suffixes of her family: fon (or phon) and phae (or fay) Over time, as her clan grew, Periphae began to despair. Though she tried so hard to hide her misery, the pain of her traumatic past was too great, and she had to leave. So, Periphae moved her clan to the other spiritual epicenter of Sorinth: the domain of the Gladekeeper. Periphae had hopes that her clan would thrive in the grotto she had found, and that the new life the Gladekeeper represented would vitalize her clan, and strengthen the binds of those within it. |
Personality Because of her regal upbringing, Periphae's manners become royalty. She is aloof and polite, but she speaks with purpose, and her voice commands all who listen. She is not a motherly type, and though she is not indifferent or cruel towards hatchlings, her upbringing did not allow her to be a child, and thus she has some difficulty identifying with their needs. In the presence of other adult dragons, her power and confidence can be felt immediately, and she gives nothing away of her own insecurities about her size. When she prophesizes, she speaks like she is telling the truth, and she knows that her visions are certain. Other Fae will note that her crest movements show little outward emotion, and even amongst her kind, her voice is monotone, like the sea on a calm day. |
