The Duality
"We don't know what went wrong tonight..."
═════════════════════════════════════════════
No one actually knew.
That was their first thought, their first agreeing thought.Harmony was difficult. Where one would wish to move forward, the other would wish to skip about, and neither could accomplish their wish while bound to the same body. They fought for control, having equal rights to the body they both possessed, only to realize that they would be getting nowhere if they didn't cooperate with one another. Sure, everyone figured there was something wrong physically with the little body they once had, but those watching never realized the truth. Tamashi is a conglomeration of two souls, an accident gone unnoticed, unsuspected. They are trapped together, bound to one mind and one head and one set of legs and arms and wings... At this point, they are indistinguishable from one another. But psychologically, they still disagree on many levels. Of course, having two perspectives leads to being more than capable of holding a calm head and making a correct decision, but it doesn't help if one refuses to communicate with the other, or if one disagrees entirely with every notion the other gives. Which, while not often, can often leave Tamashi's body in turmoil. Others attribute these to physical fits, and while it wouldn't be entirely wrong - they are having a "fit" - the idea isn't exactly correct, though it is good cover for them. Besides, other folks would think them crazy for having "two souls in one", and for even trying to express the idea. They might even try to exorcise them, and that wouldn't get anyone anywhere. This is no demonic possession: Tamashi really does have two souls - two people, inside their body - and they are both equally Tamashi in identity. The two have taken quite a liking to the idea of left brain and right brain to describe themselves, and have gone so far as to take individual names, albeit in simple terms. The self declared Right Brain (both wanted to be the right "brain" at first) took the name Right or "Migi" for the idea that they were the most 'creative' of the two, although in reality Migi is the more heated and passionate of the two. He was far more argumentative, and incredibly persistent. Thus, the other eventually conceded, and Migi was Migi. He simply couldn't have been more pleased with the development, and Migi strained their shared body to make it stronger, more often than not partaking in small fights and brawls to train Tamashi's reflexes. The other took on the identity of the Left Brain without complaint, as they got the longer name, a small victory in their mind. The other became known as Left, or "Hidari". True to the ideal of a "Left Brain", Hidari worked to become the logical one, having an unfortunate knack for letting his emotions get the best of them almost as much as Migi did. Hidari, in an effort to make himself a truly complementary opposite, cooled himself off, and stepped back. In observation, Hidari found himself able to see more clearly, and actually look at the situations he and Migi found themselves in. Consequently, Hidari has a fondness for talking, a fondness that was born and grown in having to take control of what they said as Tamashi. It is much harder to unsettle Hidari, and if Hidari is calm, then he can calm Migi as well. More often than not, it is Migi who is constantly getting himself in trouble as Tamashi, with Hidari taking a back seat and watching, as someone had to make sure they had the words and wit to slip out of a sticky situation. As often as Migi has tried to solve things physically and in passionate bouts, Hidari has always restrained and talked reason, and when united together, they are a truly formidable team, more than capable of wielding their shared body in excellent defense of their safety. |
"You know, you've got double the smarts that everyone else seems to have..."
"Oh, really? What makes you say that?"
