Biography
"These nets are NOT coatl safe!" - Tonatiuh
Tonatiuh was once tied to all things oceanic. The ebb and flow of the tide was reflected in his very pulse. Or so he'd have you believe.
The truth of the matter is he was once a hatchling with very big aspirations. Sadly, his home lair wouldn't let him go so far as to see the nearby streams, let alone the oceans of his dreams. But like a candle flickering in the darkness, that light wouldn't be denied.
As he grew, he tired of the austere, sheltered scholarly lifestyle so many light dragons embraced so easily, and the light, it seemed, grew weary of his propensity towards flitting from place to place.
Finally, he decided to learn something he always wanted to know; exactly how far his own wings would take him.
As high as he could reach was a cold place, where every breath burns in the chest. Where ice forms on every breath. The view was overwhelming. So far up that the mountains seemed to fade away, the whole world becoming a blur of color, shadows cast from the highest peaks to come to rest against the -tops- of clouds. The furthest he could see became a haze of blue and white.
As far as he could reach was beyond even the broad waters, untouched by any land. The ocean, pure and deep beneath him fell away, revealing cracked, and torn lands, places that seemed to defy any creature fool enough to exist on their sundered surfaces. Then further still, to a place spoken of with sorrow and mournful reverence, a pillar rising from what seemed to be the very depths of the world itself.
When his wings finally gave out, he descended. Rapidly. Exhausted, lost, he plummeted down through the clouds, through rain and wind, and finally, through a thick, emerald canopy.
His landing was nothing short of a disaster, but his survival could have been called a miracle.
Nursed back to health by several members of a nature lair, all he could do was to imagine, and to tell stories. Some real, some purely his own dreams. The hatchlings hung on his every word, this was not surprising. The young always do, when it comes to flights of fancy.
But to his surprise, several of the elders, including the clan leader herself did as well.
Nature, it would seem, could welcome all kinds in her embrace.
His wings would recover, his wounds would mend. He would fly again, but instead of wondering how far he could go, he found himself dreaming of what story he would bring back next.
