Biography
Alanis
"Mom. Mom. Mooooom. Really, you can't come whining to me every time Nightshade and Hypnos suspend you for getting drunk. Yes, I know it was my big day, winning first place in the sandcastle competition with my replica of the Spiral Keep for the third year in a row, but that doesn't give you the right to down an "equally big" martini and making Rurie and Ianita cry...yeah, yeah, I know how proud you are of me, Ma...
"...I love you, too, you know I do. But seriously, you can be sooooo embarrassing!"

A Beach dragon who lives on the shores of the Diadem Caverns' territory with her mother, Varuni, and father, Varuna, Alanis is a perpetually-optimistic beach scavenger known as the "baby" of the clan. Great at identifying seashells and building sandcastles many describe as "crazy detailed," she rarely descends into the caverns proper, preferring to spend her days with the wind and the waves. She thrives on the shoreline, and finds it easiest to treat her modest sensory processing issues where the sea, sky, and sand meet.
Element: Allegiance: Home: Tidal Flats |
Approx. human age 11-15 Roles Resident of Diadem Caverns, occasional scavenger, #1 cheerleader for the clan Mate None Interests Shoreline environments, beach scavenging, harvesting coconuts, blep-keeping Main hobby Building sandcastles Voted most likely to build an actual, structurally-sound and awe-inspiring city out of life-sized sandcastles |
Originating from the Tsunami Flats, these sand colored dragons are the guardians of the shoreline surrounding the Sea of a Thousand Currents. To better suit their lives on land, these dragons have thicker skin and hides to prevent loss of water and a much more complex lung structure than their more aquatic brethren. While many of these Beach dragons have retained their gill structures, their ability to breathe easily underwater has been compromised and find swimming wearisome at long distances.
Due to these restraints, Beach dragons often build grand homes on dry land rather than in the sea. From great sand-colored, woven tents (to blend in with the sand dunes) to castles made of coquina shells to wooden resorts, every effort is made to create a comfortable and defensible home. And when they are not building homes or protecting the shores, these dragons are often out combing the beach for items to be salvaged, repaired, and added to their treasure stores. |
