Megeleus

Megeleus's first stop was an ill-fated one: the Arcane clan that played host to her was in the process of moving to the Sunbeam Ruins, and so their attention was limited even though she was a hatchling. Keahi did his best to take care of her in the chaos... but she attracted the attention of Eirwen.

In a jealous rage, the elder Coatl chased her out.


After being chased from the Arcane clan, Megeleus' little feet and wings carried her to the east, into the dangerous territory of the Scarred Wasteland. Young as Megeleus was, she was vulnerable to all kinds of dangers, including the various illnesses that fester in these lands. Luckily, before the little Coatl had a chance to succumb to illness, a messenger on her way home happened upon the small creature. Feeling pity for the little hatchling, Clodovea brought Megeleus to her clan, where she would be nursed back to health.
Valentin, the clan’s nest and hatchling caretaker, took Megeleus under his wing until she had grown into a beautiful and healthy Coatl, now much more resistant to illness than before.
However, growing into an adult didn’t quench Megeleus’ thirst for adventure and so she soon moved on, carrying a small farewell gift from her caretaker.


Megeleus stayed only briefly with her next clan, a group of dragons who resided near the Pillar of the World. She stopped merely to rest and prepare for her onward journey. Though the clan she stayed with was friendly enough, Megeleus was not ready to stop yet. She flew on rested and resupplied for her next adventure.

At her next stop, something most unexpected happened, Megeleus fell in love. Wright came to Cleavesong's clan a few weeks after Megeleus arrived and she was immediately besotted with the brilliant red Guardian. It was a swift romance as Wright could not deny her beauty. Before long they were anxiously awaiting the hatching of their nest.

One of their hatchlings, Solace chose to serve the Arcanist, but Kimita and Ninohu still remain with the clan. As much as Megeleus loved him, she eventually felt the wandering urge again and left her beloved Wright. He promised to take care of their children and to never forget her.


The clan that Megeleus returned to after journeying as long as she had hardly felt like her own, but it was, nonetheless. She was welcomed with open arms, and was happy to sit in the lair with a warm drink and fresh food. She was wary, and unsure if she wanted to continue. It all felt so perilous and pointless sometimes, and she wondered where she was even trying to go.

Here, though, she realized that she could handle continuing on a bit longer. She wasn't sure why, but though she was pulled back here, it felt no different than any of her journeys before. Only a pit stop, not her destination. She wanted to settle in here eventually, of course, but at best she felt out of place.

She wanted to become someone who belonged in the ragtag clan, with just as many stories as everyone else. She wanted to become a fierce wanderer, someone they would seek out, not the other way around. Her perils of childhood were hard, and the plague lands left some of her body weak and unused to normal life. But she still wanted to push on, do more, be more.

Picking up a scarf and wrapping it around herself, she tottled back out, ready for the wide world ahead of her. "Soon," she thought, "I can call this place home. But not yet."


Megeleus's first home away from home this time around was the Sunstream Outpost, a clan by the ocean in the Sunbeam Ruins. The constant sunlight baffled and delighted her, and she found that the saltwater helped her aching joints. She grew close to Pearlshine, a Fae female who acted as the ambassador for the Outpost, and Megeleus spent her days telling her all about her travels. No one caught her eye as much as Eigr, however. Originally from the Juniper Lagoon, he had also come to visit the Outpost, and Megeleus found herself unable to deny his charm. He worked hard to make her laugh, and succeeded more often than not, although neither of them knew whether she was laughing with or at him.

It certainly wasn't love, but they enjoyed lying together, hatching three eggs - Evander, Herocles and Medea. Megeleus stayed with the Outpost until the hatchlings became independent, but they could all see how she itched to travel onward, and they urged her to do so. Pearlshine made Megeleus promise that she would write letters back to the Outpost, and Eigr showed a rare moment of decency and adulthood as he vowed to do what he could to make sure their three children had fulfilling, exciting lives.
