Destroyer: She sat in a small corner, a box clutched between her furred fingers. Her eyes were closed and she seemed to be swaying gently.

I got no response. I decided to listen in a little longer. The music box's delicate sound faded away and she peeled it from her hand to rewind it.

Reprise: Hello?
D: Hello.
R: I thought you were in my head.
D: She looked around, only to realize that I was in her head.
R: Oh.
D: She let go of the box and muffled it with a shaggy paw. It's gears clicked through the holes but no music was made.
What's wrong?
R: Hmm?
D: The song, it's stopped playing.
R: Oh, this silly old thing. It's nothing.
D: I want to hear it.
R: I'm sorry, I'll wind it up-
D: There's no need to apologize, love.
She seemed flustered. Even still, she uncovered her hands so that the soft clicks churned out a melody.

R: It's new.
D: In my soul, I recognized this song. It led me to wonder if we were both listening to the same broken track, or if my head was just playing games with me.
Her eyes closed and she listened to the song again. There was no merry swaying this time and she sat with her face curving in pained expressions. The box made one final note and failed.
R: Yes, I think I like that song.
D: I felt an urge come over me. Oftentimes urges come with rage or fear, but this was different. I wanted to give this dragon something invaluable.
One more time, please?
Unbothered, she rewound the box. The music started from where it left off and I hummed the melody as it played until the words came back.
Look at the stars.
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do.
Yeah, they were all yellow...
I came along.
I wrote a song for you,
And all the things you do
And it was called "Yellow..."
It was nothing like the song that I had loved originally, but those days are long gone. My voice was a poor representation of the depth, but that wasn't what was important. The words are what mattered. When I finished, she was transfixed to a random spot on the wall, staring dazed.
She rewound the box again and held it, hesitant.
R: I don't believe I understood the song at first.
D: Is that so?
R: Yes; at first it sounded like a lullaby: something to be enjoyed and peaceful.
The second time? It's not a lullaby. I'm not sure what it was.
Though, it was much sadder listening to it the second time.
