Anapa
ah-nah-pah
Alert | Gravekeeper of the Toxic Wastes | Hunter
tumblr_inline_nwr25xDZuy1sgemal_250.png

Anapa is the officially appointed Gravekeeper of the Toxic Wastes, and spends most of his time in the small graveyard located in a chamber within the lair. He is always active, either walking through the stones in the ground or polishing the urns set on shelves all along the walls. Strange and often quiet, Anapa works alongside the enthusiastic Anubis, taking prepared bodies and ashes back to the graveyard and working to console grieving families and friends when tragedy strikes. Not that he's very good at it - his silence, combined with his baffling appearance, sets most dragons on edge.

Longneck Medium Rythall the Longneck Medium is more of a friend than a familiar to Anapa, and doesn't live in the Toxic Wastes. He lives far away in the Tangled Wood with his brethren, but regularly makes the trip all the way to the Wastes to visit the graveyard and converse with Anapa. The purpose of these visits is to speak to any possible spirits left behind and urge them to move on to the afterlife - whatever that may be. Though most others refuse to trust active Beastclan members, let alone one of the natives to the Ghostlight Ruins, Anapa is very serious about the afterlife and insists upon using Rythall's services, claiming he is even more professional than clan medium Ghost when it comes to encouraging spirits into the next life. He claims that spirits unable to move on will only grow restless, confused, and even aggressive - something no one wants. No one wants to argue with him about it.

Backstory

Before his life in the Toxic Wastes, Anapa was a traveler alongside his partner, Anubis. The two of them went between the Sunbeam Ruins and Dragonhome, Anubis looking into the history and practices of the areas while Anapa familiarized himself with local spirits through the use of mediums. On occasion, he would leave Anubis's side to travel to the densest area of lost souls - the Tangled Wood. This was where he met Rythall, and where he learned many of his own methods of contacting spirits.

When Andiron approached Anubis, and in extension Anapa, on moving to the Toxic Wastes to be the official Undertakers, it was Anapa who convinced his companion that it was a good idea. Anubis had never settled after leaving home and wasn't eager to do so, but Anapa saw it as an excellent opportunity to use all they had learned for the good of other dragons. He also had great interest in the Scarred Wasteland and wanted to see more of it.

Anapa claims the Wasteland to be full of spirits, almost all of them dragons who are furious about their own deaths, being that Plague dragons are suppose to survive all things. This attracted him even further to living in the Toxic Wastes, as all he wants to do is help the lost find their way to the afterlife. As soon as Ghost moved to the Wastes, Anapa was all over him, quickly learning his sign language as to commune with him about spirits. The two often help deal with wayward souls together, unless a situation becomes so dire that Anapa deems it necessary to summon Rythall.

Whatever and whoever he was before he met Anubis in the Sunbeam Ruins is a mystery. Anapa seems uninterested in talking of his past, and when questioned about his odd canid looks, he merely says he's always looked that way. He doesn't act overly dog-like, but others have seen him using his strange wet nose to sniff things out, and his pointed ears are always on high alert. Whatever made him the way that he is, Anapa seems content with it and uses it to his advantage.
