Biography

Ra
Light Rep | Clan Ambassador | Calm | Stoic | Kind
Theme Song: Into The Night - Santana
lighth7.png
On the very first day The Light Touched Outpost settled into their new carved out cavern (courtesy of Raiden, Gremlocke, and Hiro), there was a visitor. On watch for that morning while the majority of the clan was getting themselves oriented, Slash spotted a large shimmering, almost blinding dragon heading straight for the western entrance. With a panicked squawk the young Mirror raced to find Akuma and Ruvell, frightened by the prospect of a challenger of their newfound home. She dashed through the camps.
“We have an intruder coming towards us at a speed of around 30 knots! All guardians to the Southern entrance now!”
At the word ‘intruder,’ the guards and protectors of the clan made their way to the entrance, creating a barricade. The remaining left inside clung together in a worried heap, praying that Lightweaver would grant them salvation in her lands. Who was this dragon? Was he friend or foe? How much of a challenge would he prove to be if confrontation dwindled to primal territorial fighting? These thoughts raced in the minds of the clan, stilled with anticipation.

As the stranger lowered himself onto the plateau, it could be described as if the sun itself had descended upon the dusty ground. He was large, even for an Imperial breed. Possibly one of the largest the clan had seen. His body was pure white, almost crystalline that allowed the sun the Lightweaver so proudly boasts to reflect. His wings seemed to carry an almost unearthly glow, that if he was viewed in the same direction as the sun it could almost be said they carried the very light across the sky. An odd thing to note however, would be his tribal like markings painted upon his sides, almost the same color as his wings but deeper, brighter. The barricade was stunned by the appearance of such a dragon, more so because the little band of misfits hadn’t experienced one of such ethereal beauty back in their rotting homeland. They almost felt humbled with a slight hint of embarrassment. Suddenly they parted, and from the opening came Akuma, Ruvell, and Gremlocke, Slash trailing behind timidly.
“What business have you, child of Lightweaver, with our weary and humble clan?” rumbled Akuma.
Ruvell shot glares at the intruder, his lips receding into a near snarl. His unfriendly advances were only relaxed by a pat from Gremlocke, who seemed to recognize the young dragon’s markings.
“And what business do you, small meager dragon of origin, have questioning the intentions of one the Lightweaver’s chief attendants?!”
A high pitched voice broke the tension. The clanmembers, dumbfounded by such a tone, look around for the source. Ruvell however spat back viciously,
“HOW DARE YOU SPEAK THAT WAY TO OUR LEADER. EXPLAIN YOURSELF SO CALLED CHILD OF LIGHT. IF YOU ARE AS YOU CALL YOURSELF THEN I AM AFRAID WE MADE A GRAVE MISTAKE IN SETTLING HERE IF THE LIGHTWEAVER KEEPS SUCH INSOLENT BRATS.”
Gremlocke promptly shot an intense glare at him, as did Akuma, who was not for such violent language and conversation. Ruvell simply snorted and repositioned himself to sit with his head hung, never wavering in his hatred filled look.
“My apologies for my assistant.”
A low voice could be heard, directed towards Ruvell.
“What?” Ruvell spat with more surprise than rage.
“She does not know how to hold her tongue sadly, and doesn’t to seem to have a good gauge for when to stop speaking before insulting someone. For that I severely apologize.”
The Imperial dipped his head in a low bow, almost prostrating himself before the indignant Pearlcatcher. Ruvell was taken aback and cleared his throat.
“Well I shall let it go for now.”
He averted his eyes in embarrassment.
Suddenly a tiny yellow goblin like creature bounced off of the young dragon’s head and onto the ground in front of him, storming up to Ruvell.
“I should be the one calling you an insolent brat you ignorant fool! How dare you insult Master Ra like that! If it were me you would have had one large goose egg about now along with a one way ticket back to wherever uncivilized sava---”
“Leora that is -quite- enough. We came to welcome our new citizens and report their status to the Mother, not to threaten them. Now read the proclamation.”
Leora heavily sighed, hugging what seemed to be a crystal ball to her chest with a sorrowful look in her eyes.
“Fine Master.”
Meanwhile, the majority of the clan members had gathered to see who was causing such a ruckus and picking a fight with one of the clan’s most easily riled. Ruvell and Akuma themselves just stared at the tiny creature with saucer like eyes, disbelief making them feel as if their eyesight was leaving them.
Said creature bounded up a large jagged rock, not much taller than a Guardian female stretching their neck to the fullest. Unscrolling a thin paper larger than twice her body size, both in height and width (tail and horns included), she stood with an almost militant air about her.
“New citizens of the Mirrorlight Promenade. I, The God of this territory and others surrounding such, The Lightweaver, have seen, recognized, and accepted your obvious claim in territory. I extend my thanks to one of your young who eradicated the debilitating storm that has been plaguing my lands for the past couple of weeks. Thereby as new citizens you shall now recite, with my third chief attendant, Ra, as witness, our creed, after which you will then allow Ra to complete a check of the establishment as well as a headcount of your members and your name for the registry.
All my best,
~The Mother Lightweaver”
“We shall conduct the tour of the camp first.”
Ra took a step towards the opening, towering over Akuma.
“Please lead the way.”
Akuma almost immediately dipped her head in acknowledgement and turned to begin the trek, Ruvell following close with a sour expression upon his face. Leora, who managed to jump onto the irritated Pearlcatcher’s head, wasn’t helping in the slightest.
“We’ll be here till sundown so I expect you all have some sort of lunch in order for Master Ra. He only consumes our native Salmon and requires 30 kilograms of it! As for me, I only have the taste for ap---ACK.”
Ruvell had swatted Leora with his tail, purposely muffling her maw with his tail fur.
“For such a tiny creature you sure can yap. Will you die without talking---YEOUCH!”
Leora viciously spat out some ripped off fluff.
“And for such a noble breed you sure act like a rabid dog. Idiot beast.”
“Brattish imp.”
“Primordial chicken.”
As the two bickered, Ra and Akuma only looked on with expressions that could only express so much tired irritation and anger before opting to leave the lagging pair of insult generators to their own devices.

“They’re a match made in heaven aren’t they?”
“Quite. I never dreamed Leora could get along so well with someone other than myself. I found her as an infant and she hasn’t left my side since. Her first words were spoken to only me and I’m sure her last will be the same.”
“Ah so that’s why she speaks so highly of you.”
“Yes, she sees me as her parent as well as her superior, but honestly I’d just be honored for her to see me as her father.”
Akuma chuckled warmly at the young Imperial, “You’re quite young but your maturity seems to match your size.”
They stopped at the nursery, which was currently bustling with the new hatchlings. The tent was filled with the odor of mud and various mashed foods. When the light hit the entrance, various small beings of different breeds, sizes, and eye color, could be seen popping on top of one another, some threatening to bring down the enclosure upon them all. Around half had some sort of muck smeared on their bodies and snouts in a haphazard design, while the others were actually coated in said muck. Akuma grimaced at the sight.
“Our caretaker, Skyline, is currently resting right now from the journey so it’s quite a mess in here. He’d certainly reprimand me if he saw such disarray.”
One of the young, a small brown Imperial with creamy swirls, tumbled her way into Ra’s foreleg, smearing his pristine white scales with what looked to be a mix of grass, mashed strawberries, and mud. Akuma stilled for a few seconds, not knowing how a noble would react. Meanwhile, the small female rolled onto her side and blinked up at the larger male with owlish eyes.
“Hey mister, you’re really big! Are you one of the Great Gods or something?”
The air was tense for a few seconds. Akuma readied herself to jump in front of the innocent hatchling in case Ra didn’t have the sense of humor most of the others had. All of a sudden a low rumbling could be heard, progressively getting louder and more shriek like, the earth moving beneath them. Ra couldn’t help the laughter, collapsing on his side and nearly seizing up in pain from the sharp ache in his belly. Akuma cocked her head to the side, dumbfounded, before relaxing into a gentle smile. Ra, with water clouding his vision, lifted his head enough to focus on the hatchling, who now had the remainder of the nursery swarmed around her.
“You...what’s your name?”
The little female shuffled her front feet together, clearly nervous.
“E-Eclaire.”
“Eclaire. Well little lady I’m afraid to disappoint you but I’m not one of the Great Gods. I’m actually just a commoner who enjoys books a bit too much. I don’t have enough brilliance and intellect to match that of one of the Twelve.”
Eclaire perked up,
“You read?!”
One of the others chimed in,
“What kind of books do you have?”
And another,
“Do you know about our homeland?”
Soon, all of the hatchlings were clamoring over the potential new knowledge and lore from their new playmate, as far as they were concerned that was his new position. Akuma then called from a distance ahead of them.
“Children, our visitor has work to do leave him be.”
Ra gazed down upon the dejected looks of the young and smiled, lowering his head to them.
“Ever want to ride above the treetops and into the clouds?”

The remainder of the day was spent touring the various dugouts, caverns, and hunting fields of the territory, Akuma leading a rather odd parade consisting of Ra, who had around 15 hatchlings dangling off his head and horns, buried in the soft silken free flowing fur of his mane, and a certain pair who had realized their “argument” contributed to them being left behind and away from their beloved leaders. At sundown, a grand feast was prepared to celebrate the clan’s first day in new territory without any issues. The hunting and foraging parties shared tales of how wondrous and plentiful they found the land, in addition to how they caught the spread of meats displayed. In fact, quite a few exaggerated along the lines of fearlessly leaping into a ravine to chase after a family of plump Old World Rabbits and swimming against a voracious current eager to swallow even a great Imperial in order to procure shimmering Golden Rainbow Trout, dripping with delicious glistening oil and fat. Ra and Akuma were enjoying their meals separately, Ra smiling at the children fighting over a whole Black Hen, while Akuma was more interested in the dynamic duo continuing to assault each other of the most odd of topics. It appeared that the topic had now fallen to “What came first? The Dragon or the Egg?” It was most bizarre in her mind. Shaking her head, she looked to Ra,
“You’re amazing with the children. They were perfect little angels today.”
“Hmm? Ah yes well I suppose that comes from raising Leora. Honestly I’d rather see them all engaged in learning about the lore of our origins and the world than see them attempt to scratch one another over a scrap of meat.”
“You seem to covet knowledge more than survival.”
“Ahh, that’s because it never harmed anyone as far as I know. I...despise unnecessary conflict over misunderstanding---no, rather not wanting to understand. That’s why I bury myself in my books. You can learn so much from one. And with that book you can teach another, and possibly change their life.”
At this Akuma softly cooed, sensing an emotional change in the usually perpetually joyous Imperial.
“Leora isn’t like anything I’ve seen before. I can say the same for the others in our clan. I take it she wasn’t...welcomed at first?”
Ra jolted and stilled, staring at the female Guardian, who now had an air of wisdom and knowing about her, something very intense yet gentle. Such a feeling he only ever felt with the Lightweaver, just once. He turned back towards the sunset.
“Leora...was bullied quite frequently when I first brought her. Many of the others in the ranks saw her as a strange undefined existence, some even saw her as a demon of sorts who would only bring misfortune. Not to mention her size and quick to develop attitude weren’t much of a help. Whenever she attempted to answer questions about her true origins she’d never be able to answer. She’d always come to me in near tears and ask why she couldn’t be accepted. Just because she was an oddity no one could allow themselves to treat her like any other normal being or show her any sort of respect. It hasn’t stopped either, though thankfully Leora has grown a thicker skin because of it.”
Silence passed between them for a few minutes, the sun sinking lower in the sky, grazing the mountain tops and trees and threatening to set them ablaze with the potent golden orange color.
“You know, I believe Ruvell sees Leora as more of a comedy partner than that of an oddity that must be cast off, and she seems pleased with the quality of food we have to offer. She’s scarfing down those clover flowers like no tomorrow. The children adore you as well. Eclair has grown particularly fond of you. Why I even caught her being teased by one of our males about a bit of an infatuation. I think it would give the mother’s and I peace if the offspring had a good role model other than Skyline to watch over them.”
Ra blinked,
“What are you saying?”
Akuma sighed and chuckled,
“Really must I be so blunt with you? I’m saying join us.”
“But the Lightwea---”
“If she is as you have described I’m sure she’d be more pleased with your true happiness than to have you holed up in a library all day with your colleagues being less than kind to your daughter.”
Akuma rose to her feet and barked out a call to retire inside the camp. Ra opened his mouth to speak as she began to leave.
“I will give you this night. Tell me your decision at dawn.”
Ra shut his mouth tight, a worried look on his face. Leora bounded up to him, still gnawing on a large green apple.
“Master what’s wrong?”
The sour white flesh crumbled in her jaws.
“I...I just have a lot of thinking to do. Let’s sleep for now okay?”
Leora tilted her head with confusion, but soon nodded and wrapped herself in his back mane between his shoulderblades.
“Good night Papa.”
“Good night…”
Ra drawled. He knew no matter how much he tried he wouldn’t be sleeping that night.

A few days later, a two page letter came in via Carrier Pigeon to the Lightweaver’s court.
“Dear Mother,

I am writing this to you with extreme grief yet also happiness. For many reasons, some that I have personally expressed to you in the past, and others you have probably picked up on in my life of serving you, I have decided to stay with The Light Touched Outpost. Although it pains me to leave you after serving you for so long, I feel it is best for not only myself, but my assistant Leora to leave our place in your direct legion. As my last job, I will now report the clan vitals: Member Count would be 73 as of now, a large clan inhabiting The Beacon of The Radiant Eye, bearing the name of The Light-Touched Outpost. It was an honor serving under you my Mother.

With Kindness and Warmth,
Ra.”

Shuffling to the second page, the Lightweaver couldn’t help but smile.
“Well, I suppose it’s all for the best.”
She dropped her large clawed hand with the second page, revealing a family portrait made with berry juice from a hatchling depicting Akuma at the center, Gremlocke to her left smiling down at her, Ruvell to her right at his wits end with Leora on his head, Storm and Skyline curled up with the newest batch of hatchlings while shaded by a tree, and Ra, standing behind the rest of the clan shading them with his ever bright glowing wings, with a large fanged smile.
