Snowdrop
The Omen
Follows the tidings of the future
Adopted in the Clarus Clan on June 8, 2016
Snowdrop's egg was found in the forest, on the edge of the Shrieking Wilds, far from home. It was nearing the end of Winter, when the Gladekeeper was slumbering deep beneath the Behemoth, and most of the Labyrinth's wilderness was hibernating. Often the Nature territory was not snowed in during the winter, but this year was particularly cold. The constant rain drizzling down was nearly on the verge of freezing, more uncomfortable than if it had merely snowed. But when the Clarus Clan found the Ice egg, the air cleared almost immediately, as if the cold, fragile thing had absorbed the chill. Spring seemed to arrive early as the patrol returned to camp with the egg. Several weeks passed in the span of mere moments, and the flower buds were opening, the frosty tinge to the air fading under the warmth of the sun. Snowdrop was an omen of hope. Until he hatched. When Snowdrop emerged from the cracked shell, the weather took a turn for the worse. It was as if the Gladekeeper had decided to go back to sleep, as a freak snow-storm erupted over the Gladeveins. |
| The Clan scrambled to throw protective charms over their growing gardens. In an effort to protect their treasured prizes, the Guild of Amaryllis raced forward, casting spells through the sky. Flora stood at the forefront, with Aurora beside her, calling instructions for which herbs to save, which budding flowers to care for, which vegetable patch was the priority. |

Meanwhile the young Snowdrop babbled in his nest, unaware of the dangers outside. The storm passed soon enough, but not before the more suspicious members of the Clan noticed the Fae's odd colouring and even odder timing. They cast the hatchling with the burden of causing the cursed storm, although no dragon could ever prove that Snowdrop was directly connected to the strange turn of the weather. From then on, Snowdrop grew to be feared by many of his Clanmates, and avoided by all but the bravest, those who did not listen to suspicion. He is a strong-willed, stubborn dragon, and has been from birth - with no care of what others think of him. As far as he knows, he has no powers to control his surroundings, but if others want to believe that of him, so be it. Within his Clan, he is a growing mage, focusing his powers on the ever-changing future ahead of him. He sees himself as a channel for omens both good and bad, and works to bring his Clan only the best of tidings from the future. Snowdrop wants to prove to his Clan that he is worthy of their approval, but Borage, a mage of similar age, makes it exceedingly difficult to do so; especially when Borage boasts of helping the Clan keep free of the Shade. Because Borage has a mentor in Eden, and Snowdrop has no mentor at all, it is hard for Snowdrop to face the Guardian without a flash of shame and jealousy. Nevertheless, the two seem to have a rivalry growing between them that puts their Clanmates on edge. |
