Biography

Skyline
Spellcaster | Intense | Reserved | Intellectual
Lighting - Fireflight

MR1BJ2L.png Skyline was always the odd one of the clan. As his mother, Storm, was the wisest and most insightful of the clan, it was a given her child would also be granted the same personality traits. However, since he was a hatchling he was always curt, cold, and reserved. The majority of the clan saw it as an unfortunate side effect of being born one of the clan’s most coveted and whispered of his irritating apparent spoiled nature. It was no help that he was also one of the more intellectual beings of the clan, which made every fact that spilt from his mouth seem all the more haughty. Due to being ostracized for his personality adopted from his mother as well as having to educate the generation he was brought up with, he slowly began to create a very abnormal and rather narcissistic view of the world, viewing the majority of dragonkind as ignorant. As a result he was practically glued to Storm, seeing her as his idol and coveting her rich knowledge and fierce nature. There was hardly anything that could sway him from Storm’s side, that is except if ‘anything’ meant the unborn and hatchlings. As much as he didn’t like to admit it, he loved the young. If he wasn’t by his mother he could always be found in the nesting area curled up by the entrance, ever vigilant, never moving. He thought these pure undefiled creations were something precious and to be kept close, protected from the poisonous rumors, chatterings, idle gossip, and overall stupidities of the others. Skyline took it upon himself to become the guardian of generations to come. As much as the rest of the clan, including the mothers, hated the idea of such a prideful and unsocial young dragon near their young they knew that there would be no one better to watch over their offspring, not to mention Skyline was Storm’s pride as well as one of Akuma’s favorites among his generation.

When news of the move reached his ears, Skyline was both in a state of joy and worry. Leaving the wretched landscape of the Plaguebringer was music to his ears. He had always feared such toxicity that ran rampant through the blood red atmosphere would harm the minds of the clan (even more) in the long run. However what would become of the unborn? Such a move would surely take a toll on the young embryos. Suddenly he felt a surge go through his very bones, down to the tips of his mane and antlers.
“Do not worry, child of the great Light, you shall find your true calling in these young hatchlings. Trust your power. Trust...”
The voice sounded like a crackled elderly male dragon on death’s bed. Ideas races in his mind as he ran wildly looking for Storm.
“Telepathy? Who could’ve...no..it couldn’t have been anyone within the clan. No one has mastered such mind magic and no one has such a voice!”
Spooked by the incident, his usual reserved and cool demeanor was broken, ranting and raving to his mother in a jumbled cacophony of screeches. Storm herself was in the middle of a pre-move meeting with Akuma and her mate Ruvell. Nearly judging to rebuke her son, Akuma suddenly held her head even higher, her eyes wide with disbelief.
“Skyline, if such a voice came in contact with you it might have been one of the Great Gods. If so, this is a prophecy that must be carried out. You are now capable of carrying the next generation on your back, and I have full faith you shall care for them as their mother would, perhaps even more so. I hereby appoint you the caretaker of our young for the journey. I expect you to accept young Skyline.”
Storm and her son, who now shared the same shocked expression just stared at their noble leader, a warm smile creeping along her crackled jaw. Skyline recovered the quickest, bowing.
“I understand my Leader. I shall uphold your honor and swear upon my mother and my life that every egg completes the journey intact.”
And with that he began to prepare.

The move was harsh for the clan. Numerous members continually complained of the conditions and infrequent rests. Skyline however never wavered. The electric pulses got stronger by the day, eventually causing his entire body to shake in seizure like fits. It was nothing to him however. All that mattered were the eggs that he had wrapped in bundles and tied securely to his neck. Finally the journey had come to a halt after Akuma herself ordered a meeting regarding whether they should head back.
‘Utter fools, it would be better to carve out a hiding hole in the ground than to return to such festering lands.’
He grimaced at the thought. Then Gremlocke spoke of the Light. All at once what felt like a thunderbolt ravaged his body.
“Your time is near, child.”
The voice was back and much clearer this time. Skyline stood his ground despite the scared looks from his clanmates. He would complete the mission no matter the hurdles to come.
Once the clan set foot in the Lightweaver’s territory it was almost predictable the majority would collapse in a heap. Skyline himself fought the urge to buckle and succumb to the temptations of sleep. However, there was an aura of danger in the air. Skyline looked to the sky and sniffed twice before blinking. The sky was clear, however the air smelt of heavy rains and damp earth. The wind began picking up.
“Akuma! A storm is coming, we must get the smaller clansmembers to higher ground!”
Now of course there was no sign to any normal dragon that there was any such storm for miles, but Skyline had felt his senses becoming sharper by the day, and the pulses simultaneously becoming more taxing and frequent. Akuma nodded and led the more elderly and weaker members to a nearby plateau coming off of a mountainous range with Skyline following at the very back. As soon as they reached the top, he peered into the distance. It was now clear that a heavily darkened platoon of clouds was racing towards the weary band of misfits at a less than normal pace. Within five minutes, it was on them. The force of the rain broke the trees below, causing them to bear jagged and splintered tips. Skyline curled around his bundles, counting them quickly to ensure he didn’t leave anyone on the edge. And then he found a mistake. A single egg was missing. Frantic, Skyline pushed the bundles towards Akuma and looked below the edge of the plateau. There, he saw one of the eggs barely hanging to a branch by the piece of cloth he had wrapped it in, threatening to rip at any moment from the ravenous wind. Enraged, he cursed himself in his mind of his ineptness, growling and hissing with anger.
“Why? Why am I cursed like this? Is it because of my lineage? Has the Plaguebringer put a lock and chain around my neck to atone for wanting to leave that foul land? Why must the young suffer?”
Again, a pulse ripped through his body causing him to writhe, and the bright blue imprinted on his skin began to glow bright. Bright. Brighter. Until the plateau was consumed by the light.
“Look to your blessing young Skyline. For you are among the chosen of thy Father. Now release it.”
The voice compelled him to scream. At the same time, Akuma, Ruvell, Storm, and the rest of the clan were mesmerized by the bright blue light being emitted from his body.
“What...What is this eve---”
With a thunderous roar from Skyline and a crack of thunder itself, the light completely swallowed the surrounding area with a sound similar to a sonic boom. When it was over, not a trace of the storm could be seen, heard, or smelt. It had been eradicated. Skyline’s body was gone from the sky. Storm, horrified, ran screaming to the edge of the plateau, looking desperately for her son. Thankfully she spotted him crawling up the wall, the egg in his jaws. As he reached the top he gently laid it next to the rest of the eggs, turning his head to smile at his mother and Akuma.
“Hey mama? I completed my mission...isn’t that...gre----”
And with that he collapsed and went out like a light.

lightningv1.png When Skyline awoke he was within a large cavern, alone.
“You slept well child. 3 days, 4 nights.”
Akuma’s warm rumbling voice soothed him.
“Well your mother is quite pleased.”
Skyline cocked his head. For the first time in his life he felt dumbfounded. Akuma just smiled and held her head high.
“Skyline. Your noble and valiant efforts have been recognized by both the main body and the members that currently hold positions, including myself. Therefore it has been decided to appoint you, keeper of the weather, blessed child of Stormcatcher, clan Weather Watcher. Do you accept such a position?”
“One question of you, gracious and noble leader.”
“Hmm?”
“Will I still be able to watch over the young of this clan for generations to come? That is my only request.”
Akuma chuckled.
“Well that is already part of the position.”
Skyline thought to himself for a few minutes. He had always fancied himself more to succeed his mother or become a ‘broodmot--’ no that wasn’t right...a ‘brood father.’ However, keeping the clan safe gave him a sense of accomplishment he had to agree. And the feeling of finally being respected for his individual efforts. He couldn’t help it. He was happy.
“Dear noble leader Akuma. I swear upon my life that I shall uphold what you expect of me. I accept this noble position and shall bear this mission until my death.”
“And who are you my child?”
Skyline raised his head high, the edges of his jaws slightly turned up.
“Thy Light Touched Outpost’s sacred protector and keeper of the heavens and blessed child of Stormcatcher. Skyline.”
