Thank you for taking me in! I’m a traveler from Zikul’s lair! If you think it’s time for me to move on from your lair, I’d love it if you sent me home, or sent me back sightseeing in the Loved Ones Sightseeing with Tales thread.  After witnessing a heinous crime in the middle of her clan's bazaar, Maystone is determined to find the dragon who murdered Synchronicity. But will she be able to find him, when all she has to go on are vague memories of a blue and green dragon? And, perhaps more importantly, will she realize in time that she's being followed by someone whose motives are less than noble? She starts her adventure by traveling to the edges of Dragonhome. Perhaps she could find people who have heard of Synchronicity-- even recognizing his name would help. She needed to gather clues, and she needed to rewind back on her memories. Think, think... Where would Synchronicity have gone? Where would his killer have gone? Her wandering mind allows her to meander too far-- crossing into hostile territory, she is ambushed by an aggressive duo who attack her out of 'territorial defense'. To her luck, two nocturnes by the name of Magician and Fortune find injured Maystone alongside the road. The two tend to her wounds and accompany her for the night, setting up a camp around her so that she can rest. As the sun falls, they ask Maystone about her reason for being out in the dangerous lands. Maystone explains her quest to them, detailing them on the murder that she witnessed. They listen intently and offer input on the matter. "Find others to travel with. It'll be safer," advises the smaller, darker nocturne. "They don't even have to be permanent. Hopping from clan to clan will do just fine... We can guide you to some hospitable ones, if you'd like," offers Magician with a quirky, yet friendly smile. "Our alliance is always looking to help people who need it. You're welcome to stay with us until you're ready." She nods and accepts their offer. Over a few weeks, Maystone is introduced to Setyrlite Alliance and they give her tips on how to fight, how to travel safely... And when she is ready, she departs from the clan to once more, continuing her adventure and culprit. Walking through the Starwood Strand, she happens across a few shifty dragons. Each is more formidable and frightening than the next. Narrowing her eyes, believing that these could possibly have something to do with the murder of her clan-member, she didn't watch where she was going, and bumped right into one. Looking up at the large obsidian and blood male Imperial covered in scars and bandages, she gasps and tumbles into some brambles. She is fished out of these same brambles by a midnight and blood female Imperial. "I'm sorry I bumped into you, I--" She starts, before the female Imperial cuts her off. "Don't worry about it, little thing. Many strangers get distracted in these woods. Speaking of which, who are you and what do you want?" Unsure if this Imperial is friend or foe, Maystone pulls her head up high and tries to speak bravely, "I am Maystone. I am looking for information about a clan member of mine that was murdered back in Dragonhome." The big male Imperial chuckles, his voice deep and intimidating. "Do you think one of us did it? You might not be wrong. We've done many murderous deeds. What was this friend's name?" His ice eyes stares into hers. She clears her throat. "Synchronicity. He was a Fae." The two Imperials look at each other then call another one over. This one is a beautiful female of many shades of red. Although she doesn't look as scary as the others, Maystone still feels unsteady near her. The three Imperials talk momentarily and then the two others walk away, leaving the red one. "Hello, I am Ruby. I'm sorry if Alastair and Meg frightened you. None of us here harmed your friend but we did hear whispers of a dragon who murdered a Fae with that name." Ruby tells her some information that could help her track down this murderer. "But before you go, go north into the Focal Point. That's where my clan lives. The demon dragons of our lair just prefer the forests rather than the open spaces. My clan will give you a familiar to help protect you on your journeys. You shouldn't be talking about these things and be traveling alone. You're lucky you didn't run into us on a bad day. We're not always so helpful. Anyway, good luck." The red-shaded Imperial smiles and leaves. Maystone goes north and meets Vixen's Clan, telling them about the demon dragons and what they told her. After listening to her story, Shadowclaw, the kind and gentle mate of the Matriarch, goes into their hoard and returns with a Warcat Protector. She thanks him and sets on her way again, thinking about this new information Ruby gave her. |
