Emperors are male Spirals who act as companions to the Queen, as well as take on duties similar to Drones. Despite their name suggesting they hold some sort of authority over the Queen, all ruling and colonizing aspects still belong to their female counterparts. This renders Emperors as merely Drones that mimic a Queen's appearance.

Due to this similarity in appearance, in times of crisis an Emperor will often be seen temporarily taking place of a Queen in order to trick a would-be attacker, thus protecting the Hive's actual leader. It is this aspect that separates Emperors from Drones most clearly, and elevates them to an extremely vital position in the colony.

Has an exceptionally bad temper. Seems always angry. Seems slightly less angry when taking care of his bees.
Has issues with authority, which is why he refused to fulfill his role and find a Queen to help and take care off. Yet, his genetic predisposition to obeying a female's orders makes him compliant to Nightshade's wishes, though she tries not to abuse that power. Now, he has a tendency to obey his mate without a second thought, though he will deny it with his dying breath. He met Ciqala for business, when his bees were infested with Varroa destructor, but repetitive meetings with the strong-headed vet gradually made him fall in love with her.
Ciqala really is his Queen. She's the one wearing the pants in their relationship. She made him buy a Mage's golden bag instead of his ivory one because it kept being stained in honey when he used it to store his goods.
He sells honey and wax to the dragons of the Clan (Enigma and Aderlass, mainly), and his bees help pollinise Hazan and Shyama's plants.
