about. Kalytia's birth clan were not scholars - clever, certainly, in a typical Shadow clan way, but she was always drawn to more esoteric knowledge. Kalytia wanted to learn history, literature, the nature of morality... nothing her clan found at all useful. So she left and sought out a library she had heard of, a great collection of knowledge where scholars spent their days analyzing documents and discussing philosophy. The problem being, this library was run by Imperials, and when she approached the heads of the library seeking a teacher, they turned her away. She approached a few of the more prominent scholars, but was similarly rebuffed, and just as she was about to leave, dejected, an archivist named Rhea chose to take her under her wing. Despite her mentor's guidance, Kalytia struggled at the library - she was shunned by other dragons, as the few non-Imperials among the students there took their cues from the Imperials, so her only real social interaction was with Rhea and her mate Lune. In a desperate attempt to emulate everyone around her, she delved into magic texts and discovered a ritual that allowed her to grow antlers; this did not in any way ease her social isolation, but it's permanent, so it seems like she's stuck with them. When not studying, she took to wandering the woods around the library, and on her own developed an interest in biology - she collects feathers, scales, pinned insects, skulls, any animal part she can find that will help her better understand them. She's also adopted a number of cats, and is currently writing a paper on feline social structures - just, you know, for fun. When Rhea was called south to act as archivist to the newly opened vault, Kalytia could only greet the change with relief. It might be in the middle of nowhere, but at least she'd have people around who would speak to her. Maybe. Hopefully? other. flightless. Her wings are short and stubby compared to her size, and do not provide enough lift for her to fly... or even glide effectively. She's pretty much grounded, and has to resort to magic or hitch a ride on a larger dragon if she wants to travel long distances. unique.
