Manticore

(And sometimes psychiatrist) "Have you been eating properly...? For a Plague dragon, you really do look like death." Brought in as a pearlcatcher from a Wind lair as the unwanted son of a pair of then unnamed dragons, Manticore has often felt like an outcast of the group. He was shy and stumbled around a lot, often irritating the older and grouchier dragons. Manticore fell in love with a beautiful Wildclaw who saw through his Pearlcatcher breed and shy personality and returned his affection. However, this did not last...She became very ill, and for all his magic an skills in healing, she simply slipped away, cradled in his claws. His mournful cries could be heard all night as he laid her to rest, praying that the Plaguebringer he looked up to and the Gladekeeper that she had admired watched over her spirit. Then the war came. Manticore was one of the dragons caught in the Boneyard/Rotrock land war when they tumbled right into the middle of the battlefield. Warring dragons quickly targeted the smaller clan, taking out many of the young dragons. Though the clan battlers managed to fight them off, many of the youngest and oldest dragons suffered fatal wounds, causing them to be called up by the Plaguebringer. Manticores bravery in the battle and skill with healing and magic granted him many thanks from the clan, and he was blessed with a complete change. Feathers and genes blossomed from his body, and with his newfound confidence, a magnificent Coatl emerged from the ashes. He found new love with Chimera, but out of fear of what happened to his first love, he prefers to not get completely attached. She doesn't mind, and simply uses her time otherwise. |
