Though their parents weren't aware of it, they had come into being as the result of a curse a dying peach tree cast on their clan. Most of the clan's dragons weren't aware of their supernatural origins but nonetheless found them odd, and the sense of otherness only increased when the pair's first nest resulted in four identical male quadruplets. Perhaps it was the result of the warped energies seeping in from the spirit realm, or perhaps there was another cause – but everyone agreed that the quadruplets weren't normal. Their parents cared for them, of course, as did their adoptive grandparents, but the quadruplets could sense that most in the clan were unnerved by their presence and hoped they would depart as quickly as possible.
