► HISTORY
Hatched into a clan of nomads, Nachtstreiter was no stranger to wandering aimlessly. His clan's numbers were fluid, as small groups of them periodically broke off to establish their own lairs or join other dragons. As a result, he did not build strong relationships with his clanmates, including his own family. He joined another splinter group when they left the clan.

It was shortly after this that Nachtstreiter felt the Search's call. His elders had explained its import, and he soon left his comrades behind to wander Sornieth alone. Nachtstreiter's Search took a very long time, and so deeply invested was he in it that eventually he forgot his original clanmates. He attached himself to other dragons from time to time, mostly nomads like himself, but soon realized that being with a group was impeding his Search. Eventually he returned to the Sunbeam Ruins on his own.

He soon came across an abandoned Second-Age structure -- and the Guardian, Veritas, who was on a Search just as he was. The two of them soon determined that the building they'd discovered was their Charge. They decided to make it their lair -- and in time, the two of them became mates.

Alongside Veritas, Nachtstreiter has continued leading the Disillusionists. He has delegated many of his former responsibilities to better-qualified clanmates, but is always available to dragons who need advice or a friendly ear -- and always ready to defend his family and Charge if need be.

► CHARACTER
Although Nachtstreiter didn't cultivate strong relationships within his birth clan, he was well educated, and he learned much from them before leaving. As such, despite his nomadic early years, he found it relatively easy to interact with other dragons. He's also much smaller than most Guardians, which is why he leans towards diplomacy and diffidence rather than aggression. Still, the long years of traveling on his own have taught him to protect himself, and he can hold his own in combat if needed. Combat is a last resort for him, but he is a vicious fighter when provoked, and those dragons who know him also know not to cross him.

While he is more socially skilled than Veritas, he is a natural introvert and prefers to let her do the talking. He is more comfortable observing things from the sidelines, weighing in with comments only when asked or when he feels it's absolutely necessary. He always does his best not to offend other people, and so while Veritas is the more visible of the two leaders, it is Nachtstreiter whom most dragons will come to for advice. He favors caution and prudence over immediate action. When he finds himself faced with a difficult decision, he will most likely share it with his mate and close clanmates, encouraging them to weigh in with their own solutions.

He is something of a workaholic and is often found indoors, going over paperwork -- mostly reports concerning relations with other clans. The times he does travel are usually limited to trips within the Sunbeam Ruins, when he visits fellow Light clans on diplomatic duties. On his rare days off, he can be found accompanying gathering parties or exalt trainees as extra protection. He will also spar with the clan's more experienced fighters if he's feeling lively.

Nachtstreiter's birth clan has almost been completely forgotten, and his personal belief is that it permanently disbanded not long after he left. He also doesn't remember much of the clans he lodged with on his travels, owing to him not staying in one place for more than a few days. Despite his introversion and the strange way he grew up, it was during his travels that he found out he much preferred living permanently in one place, with familiar faces around him, than wandering endlessly and never having any longtime acquaintances. He does miss some aspects of the nomadic lifestyle, particularly being able to freely come and go, but he wouldn't return to it even if given the chance.

► RELATIONSHIPS

Veritas | Mate
Mate of Nachtstreiter, and perhaps his closest friend. They took charge of the lair together and continue leading it today. Nacht holds Veritas in high esteem and often consults her when he feels overwhelmed by his duties. He is in turn always ready to assist her, whether it's at the conference table or on the battlefield.

Gyordan | Son
Eldest child of Veritas and Nachtstreiter. Nacht was very sensitive to his children's needs and was a great comfort to Gyordan when he wasn't sure what he wanted to do with his life. Father and son work closely together nowadays, with Gyordan helping Nachtstreiter with his paperwork.

Auspice | Daughter
Daughter and second child of the progenitors. Nachtstreiter did his best not to spoil her and succeeded, for the most part. He was pleasantly surprised when Auspice decided to train as a guard and frequently accompanied her when she was just starting out. He assists her less often now, but makes sure to always check and see how she's doing.

Neira | Daughter
Nacht tried to give Neira more attention when she was a child, and while the two of them don't have much in common, Nachtstreiter always tries to set aside time to chat with her. Their bond is not very strong, but father and daughter nonetheless have a great deal of respect and affection for each other.

Gloaming | Son
Nachtstreiter's diplomatic skills were a huge help to Gloaming, and when his son was sent to Clan Elysia, Nacht was more than happy to continue giving him advice. Gloaming remains the Disillusionists' representative in Elysia, and he and his father often find themselves working together to maintain clan relations.

Laurant | Daughter
Nachtstreiter found it much harder to keep from spoiling his youngest daughter. He frankly wasn't sure how to handle her, and was very relieved to see her growing up into a fairly levelheaded dragoness. Some of her language still curls his beard, and so she makes sure not to use too much of it out of respect for him.

Iduna | Granddaughter
Iduna was happy to learn and talk shop with her grandfather, but her tendency towards flamboyance and haughtiness is not one he approves of. Still, he hopes that she will learn to moderate herself -- or at least be more civil towards whoever she's doing business with.

► STATS & ABILITIES

Nachtstreiter learned to protect himself while on his Search. Combat will always be a last resort for him, but he can fight very well. He's often underestimated because of his small size, which also makes him more agile than most members of his breed. He maintains his skills by sparring with clanmates or protecting gatherers and exalts who journey outside the lair.

A fairly mellow dragon, calm and slow to anger. Nacht prefers to deal with things carefully and steadily. He does get rattled during emergencies, but takes care not to show it. Health-wise, he isn't prone to illnesses, but sometimes he finds himself exhausted after too much paperwork or business trips.

In combat, Nacht leans heavily towards strength and speed. He is less reliant on magic, and the spells he does know tend to be utilitarian, such as ones for making light. He can resist some kinds of magic, but not all, and in combat, he might fare badly against a more experienced mage.

As a child, Nachtstreiter was a keen student, and he made good use of his lessons when he was traveling through Sornieth. There are still some fields he's clueless in, and he will happily defer to dragons who know better. He's always open to learning new things, but can't often find the time to do so.

Nachtstreiter's kindness and warmth make him very approachable. His small size also makes him seem less intimidating, especially to dragons who don't know him too well. He's not one for passionate speeches with plenty of shouting and gestures, instead preferring quiet, civilized discussions where everyone's more or less on the same wavelength. He would much rather stay out of the limelight than bask in it.

Not particularly unfortunate or lucky, though Nachtstreiter himself would argue that he feels luckier than most, given how successful his clan has become. He's very modest about it, however, and doesn't really like to brag about his successes...or speak of his misfortunes.
