Special thanks to @ Princeofxing for his genes!

Fairly calm, he uses his brain over brawn most of the time and chooses not to talk too much. He's very protective of his clan, and always takes part in any battle to ensure they are victorious. Even so, he prefers not to fight, and though he may act oblivious to one's true intentions, he is particularly good at reading the truth in one's lies.

His first memories were a strange light that entered the enclosure he'd known for so long, the walls of this cozy but tiny space seemed thinner than before, and with a reluctant nudge he emerged from the egg. The young fae's green eyes flitted about the area, taking in the new scenery he'd never before known. His face had been instantly greeted with a gentle breeze, carrying the vague scent of water from a distant shore, and causing an orchestra of grass and bamboo to play about him.
Without hesitation he continued to emerge from the egg, until at last he tumbled out, extending his feeble wings to the breeze. A freedom he had never known filled his body, and he glanced around expectantly, instincts compelling him to find the family he knew ought to be there. But they were not.
The scattered remains of egg shells littered the nest he was within, which seemed unusually distorted and unorganized, the cured sap that had created it broken apart, some pieces hanging on by meager threads. He walked farther out, now more wary, to the edge of what he was certain was once a beautiful nest. The fae soon realized he was not far from the base of a large cliff.
Around him other dazzling amber shards lay scattered, along with feathers and a few old egg shells. Above laid a dense collection of nests of the same material, most appearing in hardly better condition than the ones that had seemingly plummeted to the ground. The grass that poked through the cracks of his nest was soft and cushiony, he realized it was the grass to which he owed his survival, his nest had clearly taken a fall.
He stepped out of the nest fully, no matter where he looked, he realized there was no company, not a single dragon of his kind or not in sight. With a slightly crushing conclusion, he realized he was indeed on his own. The fae walked onward, determination compelling him to find answers, if not a family. Unable to fly, he walked steadily along the grassland of the Windswept Plateau.
Danger surrounded his every wake, often he was forced to seek shelter in an alcove or burrow, wherever his tiny body could fit, in order to remain hidden from enemies that seemed keen on having him end up as his fellow faes before him. Those that were not enemies, were not really friends. Dragons watched from afar, slightly curious as to what a young fae was doing on his own. Dubbing him harmless and not worth their prolonged attention, especially because of his grizzly attitude (he was rather silent and unresponsive) most dragons just called him the 'grizzly fae'.
This nickname soon reached his ears through various sources, sometimes teasing youngsters would banter him about the name, or calm elders would attempt to inquire him, only to find he didn't much care for discussion to begin with. The fae adopted the name, with a twist. He changed it to Grizou, deciding it suited him more than 'grizzly' ever would.
Newly named Grizou walked on, aside from hearing his name, he heard many other things. Upon harboring with clans for short durations, many stories were told about the place known as the 'Cloudsong'. It was said many wise dragons lingered there, achieving massive clans and high praise, they were never alone, and knew much of the happenings throughout the Windswept Plateau. A destination in mind, Grizou made for this place.
He soon came to a realization, Grizou would never get where he wanted, not unless he could fly. Facing his fear, he stalked upward against the wind, scaling a cliff much like the one he'd known before his departure from his nest. The wind was stronger atop the ledge, his legs had grown strong after much walking, and were now the only things keeping him in place. Harnessing the natural magical strength contained within all faes, he spread his wings against the powerful slashes of wind.
A rush of hope surged within him, and with no choice he bounded from the cliff, feeling air zip past him at unimaginable speeds as he plummeted to the ground. His hope began to fray, as he feared his demise, a great gust carried him upward, instinct now dominated concern, and he flapped the leathery folds like he'd known this all his life. He was at last airborne.
Grizou soared over the place he'd known only from the ground, finding it to be an entirely new world when he was above. New courage filled him to the core, and onward he flew. Grizou tried to keep his landings short, wanting desperately to reach the place he knew he needed to be. The fae often times forgot to eat, and would only be reminded after he'd collapsed in exhaustion. Time continued to pass, the winds grew harder to fight, but his wings grew stronger as well.
After what felt like eternity, Grizou saw a sudden structure up ahead. Dragons flew around like he'd never seen before, completing amazing tricks he'd never thought possible. They talked, even bickered, but everywhere he looked was a figure. For the first time in his life, he felt overwhelmed with company.
Most dragons seemed busy, they all appeared important, how could he hope to get information from someone if he didn't dare try talking to them in the first place? Then, alone, sat a dragon he'd not seen as often before. A wildclaw, with powerful legs and large wings, Grizou nearly envied the dragon's obviously perfect physical physique. Somehow noticing his gaze, the Wildclaw, a male, looked to him invitingly.
Grizou approached with reluctance, but the dragon showed no sign of intended harm. A brief silence stretched before the Wildclaw at last spoke, claiming he'd never seen Grizou here previously. Grizou responded in agreement, and clearly curious, related his story to the dragon, who sat silent through the whole tale. When he finished, the Wildclaw remained in a state of quiet before finally speaking.
“Scarcely do things occur in the regions below without us hearing of it. I know of what you speak. Your clan, your colony of faes, had been ravaged by Harpies. They are relentless creatures, with masks concealing their faces, and talons that could wound the strongest of hides. Some faes escaped to unknown places, but many were not as lucky. Eggs were snared, others dragged from their homes. How your egg survived is beyond me, but perhaps it is fate that you were not lost.”
The words were relieving and heartrending to Grizou, he knew now what had happened to his family, and he also knew it was unlikely he'd ever see any of them in his lifetime. Satisfied with what he'd heard, he readied himself to depart, but the Wildclaw stopped him.
“Perhaps your blood family is gone, but a family is not determined by the sharing of your scales. Family is whatever you make it. Start a clan, Grizou. They may give you the company you seek. It is possible that one day, when your numbers grow strong, we will meet again. If that day is ever to come, I will join you.” Grizou could not ask his name, for the Wildclaw rose to his feet and spread his wings, lifting off and spiraling out of view.
The words rang heavy in his mind, and then to his heart. Grizou set off to do as he had been told, to create a clan, and more importantly, a family. He successfully began to do so upon meeting a guardian named Orchid. She introduced herself and her story, and as the two became friends, it was realized Grizou was her charge. Orchid accepted his offer to join his clan, and eventually became his mate as well. The two bore a nest, his guardian hatchlings flying off into the world to find their charge. Grizou was content, despite the saddening feeling of knowing he would never see his first brood again.
Grizou did not fully mind this, and, was pleased to see the progress. He and Orchid agreed that they would bear a second clutch only when they felt they were ready. As his clan increased in size, Grizou grew wary of his own appearance as a tiny fae. He feared his stature would prove unworthy of leadership in time, even despite the strength of his mate, Orchid. With this thought in mind, he went to his mate.
She listened to him, and seemed to reluctantly agree. Coming to a decision, they temporarily departed from the clan. Together they journeyed to the Cloudsong. With much convincing, they received a blessing from one of the Windsinger's many sprites, transforming Grizou into one of the wind's children breeds, a Skydancer. The voice of the Windsinger told them Orchid would follow in time, when the moment was needed. In his new body, he returned to his home with Orchid, dazzling many of his clanmates with his new appearance. Afterwards, he and Orchid, as promised, bore their second hatch.
Grizou was very proud of both his daughters, and though only one, Iris, will inherit the throne, he loves them both dearly. Unbeknownst to him are lingering doubts in the minds of one of his children. Not all are happy with the family dynamic.
