Biography
"People always ask me the same question -- How do I resist eating all the flowers I collect? My answer: They're just too pretty to eat!"
Lyra's story begins sadly.
Odyssey, the sister-figure and lost egg rescued by the clan leader, had now raised a large family with her mate Siegfried. However, she still felt as if she were missing a part of her family -- She had to know who her parents were. Roy had sadly informed that they were likely dead, as her egg was found abandoned in a ruinous part of the Hewn City. But that didn't stop the "what if" burning deep within Odyssey.
She flew to the Hewn City alongside her mate, but was met only with the quiet sadness of a desolate and destroyed civilization. No sign of any life, not even any abandoned eggs like she once was. With a heavy heart, Odyssey and her husband retreated to a safer part of the Sunbeam Ruins, when they were suddenly struck by a cry of help.
"Please, can anyone help our baby?!"
The desperate cries of a female Skydancer and a male Tundra rang in Siegfried and Odyssey's ears. They rushed to the source of the sound, only to be met by a terrified, struggling pair of parents, holding a sickly Tundra hatchling in their arms. Filled with sorrow and a familiar grief for the child, Odyssey asked what was wrong.
"Our daughter is very sick, we can't take care of her by ourselves anymore..." The Skydancer, nearing tears, softly whimpered.
Siegfried, noticing the look of pity in Odyssey's eyes, slowly turned her away and spoke to her seriously.
"We can't take this child in, Odd. We came here to find your parents, not bring home a new baby...!" Odyssey was nearly about to snap at him when the father of the sickly hatchling spoke up.
"Her brother and sister have already died. We're begging you, by the mercy of the Lightweaver, at least help us find her care and shelter..."
"We'll take her," Odyssey calmly stated, ignoring her husband's former remark. Siegfried opened his mouth to testify, when the two parents began to sob and thank Odyssey, hugging her tightly.
"Thank you, thank you! May the gods bless your kind souls! Please take good care of our baby, even if she passes on..." It was then that the moment Odyssey's paws touched the fur of the ill hatchling that a surge of maternal love and empathy burned through her soul. She may not have found her parents, but she could finally extend the same kindness that Roy gave to her to this hatchling. This hatchling was Lyra.
When Lyra first arrived to the Scarred Wasteland, she was near motionless. Many of the clan's members thought she was a lost cause, doomed to fall into Plaguebringer's cusp at any moment. But after a long few days in the claws of the clan medic, Lyra began to vocalize, move around, and eat like a normal hatchling. She was referred to as a 'miracle child' by some.
Lyra was very shy, not used to the dark and intimidating atmosphere of Plague territory, for all she had known before she had fallen ill was the shining peaks of Light. She would not talk to any of the other hatchlings, and often hide away in the fur of her new adopted parents. Siegfried, though initially hesitant to interact with her, figured that the best way to get her interested in her new home was to expose her to the environment.
Although she was afraid, Lyra eventually began to grow more comfortable around her new home, bonding with all the pestilent, virulent life surrounding her. She would grow so eager to go outside and find new things every day that she attracted the attention of a fellow dragon who would go outside nearly as much as her-- Havoc.
Even from first sight, the then-juvenile Mirror saw Lyra as the most beautiful dragon in all of Sornieth. He was determined to find some way to gather her attention, and so after days of thoughtful, romantic planning, he presented the young Tundra with a book. A flower identification guide.
"I noticed you really like looking at all the plants around here. M-Maybe when you're old enough to travel around the world, you'd like to see what kinds of other plants there are?" Lyra's face flushed with glee and she graciously thanked the Mirror, who's heart began to melt. Every day after she got the book, she would grow more and more eager to grow up.
Once Lyra came of age, she already had plans set out to visit all of the world's territories, collecting flowers from each of the 11 flights. But she would not do it alone. Now with her new mate Havoc by her side, the two would go on to travel Sornieth together, husband performing elegant, traditional dances, and wife observing and taking note of all the flora in the area.
The golden rings worn on their tails are a symbol of their eternal love.
