_____Don’t stand too still, she might see you.
_____Or, stand very still, so she doesn’t talk to you. _____Or, maybe don’t acknowledge that she exists, because she gets excited when people see her, and the way she breathes is kind of scary and she doesn’t really know what personal space is and her breath kind of smells like... _____... ________..... _____Potatoes.

_____Honestly, this is all just very silly. Or maybe it isn’t silly at all. Maybe it’s DEADLY SERIOUS. The way she’s looking at you when you come too close to her potatoes, it might be the latter, but that doesn’t make any sense. But can anything like this make any sense? There’s just so many of them. Too many of them. It’s hard to keep track. _____That’s what she’s here for. She keeps track. There’s so many potatoes and she keeps track, she doesn’t let them roll too far away, she loves them all. They love her, too! They climb all over her and sleep near her in big piles, and they love her. Even the ones that aren’t part of the plants, the ones that find the potatoes and bring them to her, they love her too. They won’t admit it, she doesn’t think, but they do. At least, the big scary lady has only chased her a few times with that big sharp stick, and not even very enthusiastically! It’s probably because she knows how good she is at taking care of the potato plants. |

_____There are a lot of potato plants. She knows there are. Lots and lots and lots! So many plants. They make such good potatoes. Sometimes, she has to take care of new potatoes, potatoes that come from plants she’s never seen, and that’s okay. They’re all very good little potatoes, and she takes very good care of them, making sure they don’t have too many shoots and clearing away their extra eyes, and then eventually all the potatoes grow up and then they aren’t potatoes anymore and they go off to serve the Mother of all potato plants, somewhere off in potato heaven, where spuds can be spuds and there aren’t any fryers anywhere. _____It can be hard to keep potatoes in line. You wouldn’t think it’s hard, but it is. They roll away and bounce off and they don’t listen. Potatoes have lots of eyes, but no ears - ears are for corn, and there’s no corn here. There’s not ever corn here, just potatoes. Who likes corn?? Nobody sane, that’s who!! Why would anyone like corn? That’s just silly. Take your corn and your ears and go elsewhere. This is just too much for any one dragon to bear, okay? Potatoes are enough. Potatoes are good, even if they don’t listen. |

_____What? You want to know what she did before she took care of potatoes? Please. There is no ‘before she took care of potatoes’. One day, she was a potato herself, and then she grew up! And instead of going off to serve the Mother, she decided to stay home and help other potatoes get ready for someday serving mother. And the clan she follows, they have a lot of potatoes. It’s only natural that she take care of their potatoes. It’s the most efficient way to help spuds get ready to go to mother, when she can take care of lots of them at once. It would be better if more dragons took care of the potatoes until they grew up, but there’s not that many potato farmers. She is a potato farmer, but others are just negligent of their potatoes, and then sometimes the potatoes don’t even make it to mother, and that’s very sad. _____This clan used to have a different potato farmer, but then she became a monster. She knows that the monster used to be for their potatoes, because she can hear the cries of pain that come from her old potatoes, inside her belly and radiating from her spirit. The monster thinks this is where she belongs. This is upsetting. Sometimes there are potatoes that go missing and she knows it’s the monster’s fault, even if nobody saw anything, because her potatoes always cry whenever the monster comes too close. |

_____That day was a bad day. Bad things happened and dragons were sad and nobody likes it when dragons are sad. Even some of the potatoes cried. Crying is bad for potatoes. _____Besides, most of the potatoes that go missing were bad fries in the first place, which is good. If the monster interfered with her good potatoes, then the monster would be a problem, and while she knows that there are other dragons who can take care of her problems, she is good at taking care of her prolems. She can take care of her problems just fine. Sometimes it gets messy but that’s better than her potatoes getting messy. Mashed potatoes are no good and she won’t let that happen. Not to her little spuds. Not ever. Not ever. _____Not. Ever. |

_____Being a wandering potato farmer means that she doesn’t have anywhere to put her stuff, so she just puts it all on her back. It all works very well! She knows she is pretty (look how pretty she is) and her stuff just makes her prettier, and it’s just so much easier when everything is right within reach and she doesn’t have to go looking for things. It isn’t even very heavy at all! It might look heavy and lesser dragons would probably buckle under the weight of it but it isn’t heavy. She can handle it! _____Just like she handles her potatoes. Just like she handles everything. She knows the others don’t understand her very much, and they won’t really talk to her because the big one and her pointy stick doesn’t really like her, but that’s okay. They don’t make her go away (at least not with any real effort) and they’re all very nice when they aren’t being mean, so she will continue to handle things for them! After all, they have so many potatoes. |
